I do not think that word means what you think it means.
You can infer that "some" actually meant "the majority", or you can simply believe that "some" is ambiguous in terms of whether they are a majority or a minority.
But in either case, he did not explicitly say that the majority of the people crossing the border "are criminals that we should fear."
Okay sure. I decided to use words that meant the same thing as he said, so it wasn't quite "explicit." Still waiting for the day you hold this president to the same account for his words as online forum posters.
Your example inference pretty much shows what I'm talking about. You'd have to be willfully ignorant to twist his words into something that's simply an over-generalization and not overtly racist.
