there's also the issue that many of their songs/albums sound pretty much the same. I was a big Boston fan - the first album was so unique sounding, but even after just the 2nd album, I would hear a song on the radio and not remember which album it was on. I didn't even realize until just now that they had albums after the 3rd Stage album
Yep, Scholz really didn't give a shit about the band's legacy or his legacy as a rock musician. He made guitar pedals, his interest was in his scientific work and creating a new sound on the tech side. I'm not a big Boston fan, but I have grown to respect the fact he decided he would do what made him happy, and he was a financial success without playing the record company game.

The Band gets better with age. I used to think they were a little too Confederate flag for my tastes, but they sang about a pastoral. It never became a defense of the South, just a beautiful pastoral for the southeast of the U.S. They did it right.
