I don't think Esports is all that big on this site, but I figure I'd start a topic with the news that the Cavs just gained a franchise in the NA LCS.

"The Cleveland Cavaliers have obtained a slot in the North American League of Legends Championship Series as one of the newest franchise owners, league sources told ESPN. The Cavaliers have recruited former Call of Duty pro and influencer Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag to head up their operations and are actively recruiting staff in the League of Legends space, sources said."

Bad move hiring Nadeshot to head up operations. He has a big following but the guy has no experience running an organization, and the last one he tried to start didn't end so well.

Curious...what makes someone qualified to run an esports organization.

Back in the early days when Esports was taking off, 6-8 years ago, experience didnt matter as much because everything/everyone was new. You also saw a lot of players transitioning into owners. Now a days, you have the staple organizations that have been around and have teams in quite a few competitive games. So it's always the same names gaining franchises in these leagues.
In the last year or 2, you're seeing more and more investments from big Football teams like PSG, or NBA teams/players like the Cavs and GSW. Usually when a new organization go into a game, they try and fill it with people who are from the community that has knowledge of said game. The problem with Nadeshot is, he's not from the League of Legends community nor has he ran a successful team. He was a pretty big pro COD player a couple years ago but that's all he has to his name. There's a lot that goes into running a team. Him being a player from another game might help with setting an atmosphere and regulations, but hiring knowledgeable people/coaching staff and adding players will be a problem. He doesnt know the business side of it either. He fucked up his last venture because of his incompetence.

I hired one once. Paid 300 to eat her butt.

Great gal.

What’s a trap? Was this guy one of them?
Gaze never made its way past its 300$ ass

She kept talking, im like, I can't hear you back here.

She's like I can't hear you with my butt in your mouth

>ok

So this is a real story. That makes me happy.

Post some of these idiotic prank calls.

Man I have an entire thread dedicated to that occasion.

And I posted a video in bored, you didn't rep it

Really excited about this. I watch a pretty sizable amount of esports in general.

I don't play / watch much League, but I prob will now that the Cavs have a team.

Really wish they had secured an Overwatch League spot.

That would have been cool but the buy in for the OWL is like 20 million which is just crazy imo. Even the NA LCS is only 5 mill and it's more popular. It'll be interesting to see how that league turns out.

I'm not even a die-hard Overwatch player. I'm super casual with it, but I love the look, gameplay, and it makes for a good spectator sport.

Plus I'm a huge Blizzard fanboy, so if the Cavs bought into a Blizzard franchise I'd be in heaven. A Heroes of the Storm team is up for the taking, which would be my real dream, but it's def a second-tier game behind the likes of League and Overwatch, so I'm sure that's not their primary focus. New season/split starts in January, so maybe then. Who knows.

Overwatch League has been awesome so far. Super watchable. And that's coming from someone who has always scoffed at the very idea of esports.
