Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So Prairie Artisan Ales and Evil Twin did a collaboration beer called Even More Bible Belt. Both Prairie and Evil Twin basically only make amazing beers, so I was excited to try it, even at nine dollars for a 16oz can.

It was pretty goddamn good. Coffee, chili spice, cocoa...just an incredible all around stout. It's also 13% abv so it will fuck you up.

Anyone heading to Masthead next weekend for their 1 year anniversary release? I've loved the last two NE styles I've had from them, and their stouts have been amazing as well.

Now I am. Missed out on the Hoof Hearted tickets because of work, but Masthead's release lineup for their anniversary looks awesome so nice consolation prize. Didn't realize that it has already been a year for them.

What's everyone's favorite mass-produced beer? Mine's Guinness Draught Stout in a nitro can. 24 14.9oz cans at costco for $28.99 in Washington state right now. More locally, Deschutes Blackbutte Porter is pretty good. I also like their obsidian stout, but I like the porter better. I also like the Russian imperial stout. I forget the brewery, but it has a Russian guy on the front and pours like motor oil. Delicious.

Not sure if it counts, but I like Bell's Two-Hearted.

They ship Black Butte Porter all the way out here. Had some a couple of weeks ago. It's a solid porter. Kind of bland, but good.

If you can find it (had it in Leavenworth) the blackbutte on nitro was awesome.

Once I'm more awake ill go down to my basement, there are a couple of really good dark beers from Seattle/portland

So I'm sure many in this thread have tried or are familiar with Ballast Point Victory at Sea. I've tried it in seemingly a dozen variations, from standard to coconut to peanut butter and on and on it goes. I've mostly always found it to be a mediocre porter; not bad but also not really distinguishable either. Well, tonight I had the High West barrel aged version of Victory at Sea, and it's amazing what a difference that barrel makes. It tasted fantastic.

Highly recommend it if you're into porters, particularly ones aged in bourbon barrels.

I'm a big fan of Evil Twin, so I picked up one of these for my Super Bowl drinking pleasure:

While it's not their best IPA (I'd give that one to Molotov Cocktail, which will absolutely fuck you up), it's a very solid one. Nice and hoppy with a good bit of apricot flavor. Easy drinker.

You guys have some amazing beers. I really want to try the Imperial Donut Break. Meanwhile in Canada, this brewery from Ottawa called Beau's released a coconut porter. It basically tastes like a bounty bar.

Doughnut Break is another amazing Evil Twin beer. Their beers are expensive as hell, but I'm not sure I've ever had a bad one from them.

Evil Twin has been on a role with their IPAs lately. Lost Souls, Soul Made, I always felt closer to IPAs than I did to people, Ceci Nest Pas A, and Sumo being a few.

They’re about as good as you’ll find for ”shelfie” IPAs.

Also, definitely agree on the Bible Belt from them too. Great collab beer with Prairie. Speaking of which, you should check around for Prairie Pirate Bomb and Pirate Noir. They just hit distro around here last week.

So, @Soda ... what imperial stout are you drinking to get through the Cavs game tonight?

I couldn't get home until into the 2nd half, so I went with something lighter...

An Answer - Tart Martin!

Oh wow, you got back in time for the second half? Yeah, you needed something stronger.

The Answer is very tasty though.

In honor of the Cavs actually being watchable again, I cracked open a Baby Maker for tip-off. It's a double IPA from a local brewery and has been one of the best brews in Charlotte for years now.

Has anyone in the Cleveland area heard anything about Crooked Pecker Brewing? Looks like they are going to be based out of Chagrin Falls when they open, and specializing in NE IPA's. The pictures on their Facebook look amazing, but there's not much information about them other than that.
