If Cuse's zone is an affront to basketball, then what do you call Coach K's inability to teach 5 NBA prospects to play man to man defense?
I mean seriously, who the fuck was that at the center of the zone afraid to do anything when he caught it? Why the fuck was Izzo playing him there? Sorry, I can't say Boeheim outcoached him when Izzo is actively sabotaging his team.
I think one of the few coaches that can be a successful in the NBA is Jay Wright. Wouldn't mind giving him a call.
Anyone watching UMBC? Lyle are can't finish inside right now, although the does get in the lane when he wants. Doesn't look like he has a good three point shot as he doesn't even look to score from behind the line When given space and doesn't shoot anything off the dribble.
Really cheering for them.
Lyles shoots 46.3% around the rim, 28th percentile.
Really glad Izzo didnt take the Cavs job. Dude isn't a good game coach. Severely outcoached by Boeheim all night long.
Big Syracuse fan here. People don't realize what a great coach Boeheim is. He has never gotten the talent that other top programs have. You can see that by looking at how Syracuse players do in the NBA. The only two NBA all-star talents ever to come through Syracuse in 30+ years under Boeheim were Derrick Coleman and Carmelo, and Boeheim took both of them to the championship game (winning with Carmelo, losing on a last-second shot with Coleman). Everybody else was a midrange talent, most washed out of the NBA (remember the likes of Jonny Flynn or John Wallace), others ranged from bench players to pretty good (the best outside of Carmelo + Coleman were Ronny Seikaly, Sherman Douglas, maybe Dion Waiters but hard to tell yet).
BTW, my #1 favorite thing to read on the internet after Syracuse pulls off a tournament upset is butthurt fans of other teams ranting and raving about how Syracuse shouldn't be allowed to run a zone. Keep it going, @czvo !
Kentucky is going to DESTROY whoever wins this game. Amazingly, they're going to get the Final Four after the season they've had.
