Getting Rid of Cable- What am I missing?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm trying sling right now and the connection is garbage.

Hulu wants 40 a month, that's not my first option.

Will look into yttv

Yeah if you want to make sure you can watch it immediately, just go with YouTube tv and use the trial.

Yo @gourimoko is Vue seriously worth it? I’d probably get that sports package, but I just can’t justify that price. That plus internet is $100. Why wouldn’t I just get cable at that point? YouTube Tv looks a little better with all of those channels at $40

Have you looked at DirecTV Now? I have it and I love it.

I'm watching Vue right now... It's fantastic... Turned on my Shield and the game was already on, DVR'd, just running like a cable box..

YouTube TV and Vue are the same price AFAIK? YTV is $35, and the most basic Vue package is $40.. Not sure which package I have though... Think the Elite?

To me, cable TV is garbage, especially for 4k TVs; so it's just not an option IMHO... I'm on Charter, which is now TWC I think.. but yeah, Vue and YTV are both better than Charter as far as picture quality goes..

Yttv came through the best so far

Sling fucking sucked. None of these streams are good during the playoffs.

It's still not a great connection and 40$ for two channels I'll watch is a little silly, but 40$ for the entire playoffs is fine I guess.

I don't use Vue but YouTube tv makes so much sense for me. I use to have Dish Network and two boxes, no DVR and was paying ~$65. The slight quality drop on sports which I barely notice it now, is worth the DVR and intergraded on-demand. The 3 streams is much better than the two boxes ever was. I've always liked multitasking so outside of the playoffs, I watch Cavs games while watching regular TV shows. I relied on an antenna to watch TV at times but now I can just stream on both tvs if I want to.

The unlimited DVR is so nice because you can just add tv shows and let it populate. It has a 9 month time span so I can add shows to binge at a later date. Alot of the stuff is already there with on demand.

Add to that it's on my phone and tablet now so I can watch whenever where ever I want. I will probably never go back to traditional cable.

It's so easy to sign up and cancel. I thought about canceling in the summer because I don't watch baseball and I could live off of network tv and Netflix. Then pick it back up in the fall for football and fall tv. If summer cable TV gets boring it will be tempting.

A 3 month trial of DirecTV Now includes a free Apple TV 4k and has all of the channels to watch the NBA playoffs (at least I don't think any playoff games are on NBA TV). Total price is less than buying an Apple TV 4k.

It's crazy that streaming has the same stupid limitations cable has, where there are important channels like TNT that you can only get if you subscribe to a package that includes a bunch of channels you would never watch.

If anyone gets a service going where you, get say 30 channels for $30 to $40, 15 of which are set to the most common, the other 15 are your choice out of 80 choices, and you could add additional channels from that 80 choice list for $1 each, people would most likely subscribe to more channels than they do now and would be happier with their channel list.

I looked at switching to Youtube TV before the last price increase, but they missed one channel my wife watches that she can't get standalone. So instead we're still using cable and paying too much for the service. We don't even get our internet from our cable company, so we aren't even saving on a bundle.

Is Sports Time Ohio on YouTube tv? Big tribe fan. I saw Fox Sports Ohio, but not sure if Sports time is lumped into that.

Yep I get Fox sports Ohio, Fox sports Ohio plus, and Sportstime Ohio. The one thing is Fox 8 isn't with it but you get Fox net, which is Fox primetime and then random sports or Fox sports shows during the day. I actually prefer it because I can still pick up Fox 8 on antenna so I get additional content. I could see it being a problem for people who don't have an antenna or can't pick up channel 8. There is a chance you won't get a regional or local game. I didn't have it during football season so I don't know what games fox net shows.

Looks like it. I have been thinking about switching when my cable bill goes up.

One thing is cable and satellite companies are scared at this point cause so many people are switching. The deals that were offered to me to keep me were pretty good. I actually wish I called in earlier. It might be worth calling into see what they will do before the bill goes up.

I cancelled Dish when they up my bill to $72 a month. By the end of the cancellation call they were willing to drop my bill to like $42 a month for a year without a contract extension. WOW up my internet by $10 and a quick call got them back down to the promo price for another year, that one I had to agree for another year contract.
