Beer snob thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So everyone has been hootin and hollerin about Aslin Beer Company in DC so Saturday I made the trip up to pick up cans. Unfortunately they don't have a tasting room so I just picked up several 4 packs of cans and split it with some of my friends in Richmond that wanted to try it as well.

They had a PB&J IPA which was surprisingly really good. They're pretty IPA focused which is probably my least favorite style, but I can appreciate that they are quality IPAs. Pictured below is one of their more famous and highly rated beers, Double Orange Starfish. I preferred the single Orange Starfish better, but this was a pretty good beer.

Probably my favorite beer I picked up was a small batch imperial stout they only had 45 cans of called Belly Shirts. I was able to get 2 of them and it was a great imperial stout. Didn't take a picture of it in glass because I shared with my friends, but it had a great after taste and very smooth. No idea how they got this to be 15% alcohol because it had no kick at all to it. Likely magic.

Also I loved the can art for it, hung it up in my cube lol:

That Mario Answer glass is boss!

Thanks! I'm really lucky that my work is not even a mile from The Answer so whenever they do glass releases I can get there easily (they have been releasing them on really short notice lately)

Big fan of their 8 bit glassware releases. I've got Yoshi, metroid, contra, and duck hunt as well

Can we make-up and be friends..

:chuckle:

I have Galaga and the gold rimmed Link glass myself. I went down to Richmond over Easter weekend. Went to Answer (twice), Mekong before that, Veil, and Hardywood. Missed Triple Crossing. That said, I'll be back on either August 22nd or 23rd if you're interested in meeting for a beer & talking some Cleveland sports.

Haha. I hold no bad feelings and would enjoy getting a beer and talking sports. Unfortunately I will be in Seattle from the 17th to the 26th getting knighted as a full-fledged actuary.

Galaga is a tough one to get. I've been trying to trade for the link one but no one has budged an inch on it recently strangely.

So Veil, Triple Crossing, Answer, and Hardywood are the ones that get the most national love, but if you are ever here for more than a day trip I really think Three Notch'd and Vasen are worth a trip too. Vasen is mostly sours and saisons, but they if you like that style they put out good stuff. Three Notch'd has more variety. I'm not crazy about most of their flagships but they put out some great seasonals. Oh also if you go to Triple Crossing next time I'd recommend the one in Fulton and not downtown. That one has pretty good pizza and a much bigger indoor and outdoor space. Both are cool though (downtown Triple Crossing has no food though).

Also if you want any restaurant recommendations in Richmond I've eaten at a good bit of them here. Just let me know what style you're looking for and I can recommend some places.

Can I get some brewery recommendations in the Northwest? I'm going to be in Seattle in a month for a conference for work, but I'm taking time off to explore the coast a bit.

Doing minimal research, looks like Fremont Brewing in Seattle and De Garde Brewing in Oregon are highly rated.

If you're gonna be in Portland at all and like sours, check out Cascade. They are hands down the best brewery when it comes to sour beers. Their strawberry one is one of the best tasting beers I've ever had.

Deschutes is really good too and located in (according to the google) Bend, OR.

If you'll make it to California at all, it's very plush with fantastic beer.

On a side note, @TheLand1287 are you broke yet? I am.

White Rajah (Strongsville brew) is still just one of my favorite fucking beers around. I’ve been away from Ohio two years now, at this point I might have to load the damn car up on my next trip up there.

Happy International Beer Day!

What’s everyone drinking lately?

I had some Molotov cocktails by Evil Twin.

This shit had me fucked up beyond belief.

Just hit 1300 different beers on untappd after my visit to Noble beast today. I started in June of 2017.
I just passed 600 unique beers on Untappd ‍:alc:

Went to a cool brewpub in Richmond, VA this week called The Answer. They had a bunch of the funkiest fruit beers I’ve ever had. My favorite was a raspberry, blueberry, and vanilla flavored sour.

I have a weakness for raspberry. I rate everything with raspberry artificially high. Really my only deviation from objectivity that I've noticed so far.

Was your beer by any chance "Red & Blue Popsicle"? The Answer is really good. They're at Snallygaster In DC every year, and they brought that beer last year.

I used to work a half mile from the Answer. By far my favorite brewery. Hardest part about leaving Richmond was leaving the breweries in that town. An, the owner of the Answer, is one of the best guys in beer. Self made man who does a ton for the community and is always giving back

Jking you’re in DC right? Aslin is one of my favorite breweries and they just opened a tap room in Alexandria
