Josh Gordon discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The ultimate redemption story is about to start, boys. Keep in mind that when he was the best receiver in the league for a year, he was admittedly drinking and high during games... If his mind is right (as it appears to be), we're about to see him at a mental and physical peak that we've never seen before. Couple that with Landry, Njoku, and Callaway and holy shit!

I've been wondering if he was doing coke before some of those great games he had. Cocaine could have been that extra jolt that makes you superior and maybe he won't dominate on quite the same level. Years later everyone knows that was a big part of LT's dominance. Coke can make you feel limitless energy and invincibility. I hope what your saying is true and that he can be another level of great, but no one really knows what the real Gordon is.

Come on man

What the fuck is this post man.

Coke or not he's still got all the steroids. He's fine

He thinks it was the coke that made Gordon so good, personally I think it was the race horse suppositories he took before each game.

Clearly you’re all wrong and it was aliens....

I believe this means he is good to go???? But there might be another step. I’d imagine we see him play on Thursday.

My only question is, will he earn his stripe,,,

He's been ruled out of the final preseason game dealing with a hamstring injury.

Browns coach Hue Jackson said Josh Gordon (hamstring) will play but not start Week 1.

The starting designation does not matter, but this proclamation could hint at something of a snap count after Gordon sat out all of training camp and then picked up a hamstring injury shortly after returning. Gordon has as much upside as anyone, but he will be a risky play Week

Hue is getting fucking lambasted by the media for making this statement already.

I am as big a critic of Hue as anyone but Jesus, can we go one day without over analyzing every decision and media statement he makes? Did anyone in their right mind think Gordon would be a full go week 1 starter?

He's not in game shape, is learning a brand new playbook, hasn't had a single snap of action, and already tweaked his hamstring.

I'm suspicious of the hamstring. Those things are sufficiently unpredictable that there's really no way of knowing that he can't play this week, but can play the week after.

I think it's a phantom "injury" that's the excuse to make sure he's otherwise ready in terms of the playbook, enough reps with Taylor, etc..

Really don't have a problem with that, either.

Agreed, way over the top to blast him for this.
The other thing to consider is that how are the other 52 guys that grinded it out all camp going to feel when Gordon comes in and is just handed a starting job? I understand the reality that the best players usually start, but there's a lot of upside in not starting Josh: from not forcing him in when he's not ready to sending the right message to the 52 that gutted it out all training camp. And even if he is ready - miraculously I might add - he can simply step onto the field after the first snap. This is actually a smart move!

He probably should have ignored the advice given to him by that pride of lions and stretched before chasing gazelles.

Na the other players know there talent isn’t close to Gordon

So, Gordon isn’t going to start but he’s going to get the majority of the snaps.

However, I don’t like the message Hue is sending.

This isn’t a case of a failed test. He was there for OTA’s with the team. He missed a part of camp to take care of a health concern.

So... you don’t start him to punish him for doing so?

This is the same coach who said, “He’s absolutely going to start” last year in his first game back from suspension.

Now THAT would have been a time I’d have been cool with him being benched to start a game.

Hue is just such an idiot, man.

Maybe he doesn't know the full playbook yet since he was away from the team and they're thus limiting his snaps to the plays he has down?
