Not sure I think it's the Golden Company attacking Winterfell, but it is curious that it appears to be Night King-less with no sign of any of the dragons.
I think an old face will pop-up with the Golden Company. As a surprise.
Suspects:
The Blackfish
Stannis the Mannis
Syrio Farel
Ser Pounce the Great
Who is the commander of the Golden Company in the books?
On the show, I presume the Second Sons were already used...were they Stannis' mercenaries that deserted after the BBQ?

Really testing my book memory since I'm so deep in a show rewatch AND book re-read, but I believe the Blackfish escaped Riverrun with Jeyne Westerling when Jamie came to take the castle and hasn't been seen since.I'd love for Syrio to be involved somehow and be alive and maybe be at odds with Arya that would be interesting.
Did the blackfish die in the books? He escaped then too or not? I can't remember?

Cersei really would be the dumbest dumb bitch of all time if she sent them North.
Is it pretty much assumed one of the major twists of the entire series will involve a time loop, conveniently set up by Hodor in S6?
Can’t for the life of me think of what exactly, but no way that’s the last we see of such a shocking revelation of Bran’s powers.
I’m probably setting myself up for disappointment because I really want some extremely surprising twists and turns that change how we look at this entire story even. But what I’m expecting is a fairly run of the mill good vs evil fantasy finale, with some sad character deaths and great moments but nothing revelatory. We were already told the origin of the white walkers by that one bitch, and my god was it underwhelming.
We shall see.
That is supported too by when they go to the Tower of Joy, and young Ned realizes someone is there watching him.
