On The Clock: 2019 RCF NFL Mock Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What might we see from Stark and the Giants here..

..could it be Haskins o'clock?

Stark was contacted when his pick came up. I think he and the rest of the front office have been in John Mara's office getting their asses chewed out since the OBJ trade.

Hey Eli...

Analysis

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/dwayne-haskins?id=32194841-5328-5847-4bf1-f4c48a3a3bc6

Overview
Big and talented with explosive arm talent but limited mobility Haskins is a chance-taker with the arm strength to get away with some tight window throws that most in this class can't make. Haskins is still very early in his journey and is prone to misreading coverage and stalling in getting through his progressions. While this is normal for an inexperienced quarterback, Haskins is going to be forced to learn on the fly against NFL speed and defensive coordinators conspiring to defeat him. His athletic limitations could keep him pocket-bound, but he has the arm talent, confidence and pocket savvy to become a good NFL starter if he's protected and given the time to develop early on.

Strengths

  • Groomed for this moment since he was young
  • Rare passing production
  • Has been mentored by NFL receiver Mohamed Sanu
  • Well-schooled with understanding of how to get himself protected
  • Will bet big to win big
  • Confident to take chances and complete game-changing throws
  • Shows potential to be a full-field reader on NFL level
  • Effortless throwing motion
  • Can uncork a plus fastball with just the flick of his wrist
  • Scans with ball tucked close and feet bouncing from target to target
  • Ball explodes out of his hands when driving it down the field
  • Has deep ball arm to wait out coverage and hit the fastest targets in stride
  • Alters trajectory depending on coverage and space
  • Willing to stand in and take the hit to deliver the ball
  • Able to deliver and complete throws from unconventional angles
  • Excellent sense of developing pressure from the edge
  • Pocket mobile to climb and slide into safe launch spots
  • Sturdy build to shake free of pocket traffic
  • Explosive, clutch production to finish final four games
Weaknesses
  • Small list of successful QBs with so few career starts
  • Lacks in-game adversity challenges for an early round pick
  • Front side can fly open causing throws to sail
  • Unusual follow through leaving his lower half behind
  • Still learning to attack zone coverage
  • Baited into bad decisions on high-low reads
  • Doesn't show enough caution against dropping linebackers
  • Will need to improve anticipatory intermediate throws
  • Has to be willing to come off primary reads when coverage dictates it
  • Needs to expedite his process in the face of pressure
  • Needs better feel for when to throw with touch
  • Accuracy on the move is below average
  • Below-average athlete who can't run away from trouble
  • Sluggish, heavy feet when he scrambles
  • Fumbles due to carelessness and lack of concentration on snaps

With the seventh pick in the 2019 RCF Mock Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select.....

Rashan Gary, Defensive End, Michigan

Rashan-Gary.jpg

Overview

Five-star defensive end prospect coming into Michigan who leaves with those same five-star traits and loads of potential but a lack of development in key areas. Gary is a face-up rusher who seems content to hit tackles with bull-rush attempts rather than working the edges. He's explosive out of the blocks and in closing to the quarterback, and is just waiting for hand development and additional rush moves. His size, strength and motor could make him a plus run defender in short order. He has elite potential if a defensive coordinator can harness the energy and focus his approach.

NFL Comparison

Ezekiel Ansah

Strengths

Freaky triangle of height, weight and speed

Active and strong with NFL size

Has all the tools to set a strong edge

Forceful into initial contact at point of attack

Good contact balance, thanks to sturdy base

Has disruptive qualities when he bends and plays low

Very good pursuit speed from backside and makes tackles down the field

Fires out of a track stance with energy and twitch

Can make conversion of speed-to-power look easy

Uses long-arm bull-rush to collapse the edge into quarterback

Strong enough to overtake tackles in late phase of the rush

Quick laterally and it shows up on twists

Gary may come as a surprise pick knowing that the Jags just signed Foles to be their QB of the future and have huge holes to fill on the offensive line. After weighing options, Gary was too good to pass up knowing he can take over for an aging Campbell. Offensive Line is something that can be addressed later on in the draft. Jacksonville wants to get back to the dominant D that they had just a few years ago.

The Fighting Patricias and @MGMT are on the clock

If anyone has a good WR they are willing to trade that isn't potentially about to miss a season for breaking his son's arm, I am willing to listen and have some valuable second, third, and fourth rounders.

I wonder what we'll see from Dirty D here.

Marcus Mariota could use another weapon. DK Metcalf is Calvin Johnsonny, right? Hockenson would look good here as well. Or will defense continue to be the story of round 1?

Stay tuned...

What kinda bullshit trade was the lions titans trade?

Stafford is worth less than mariota straight up let alone throwing in a first plus

I don’t agree that Mariota is worth more than Stafford straight up.

Next three years. Who would you rather have as your qb? I’d choose Stafford.

Mariota has been a disappointment imo.

The first rounder could be debated. I’d agree that might be a little steep given Staffords salary.

Yeah Mariota is basically a bottom ten QB right now and he hasn't shown anything to give much hope that he'll improve since the injury issues. Stafford is a mid-level NFL starter. He's not top ten, mostly because there's been a huge influx of talented young QBs the past few years, but he's definitely in the 15 range.

Detroit is hilariously inept.

It is probably the only example in the past decade where a franchise QB’s career has been so thoroughly wasted by a Front Office. The Lions are basically Hue Jackson’s Browns level bad except that competent QB play means they consistently win 5-6 games.

If he played for a decent team he’d probably put up big big numbers.

He already puts up big numbers.

His team just sucks so no one cares.

BIG big numbers.

Not just big.

Like if he had a RB to keep the D honest. Or an O-Line. Or a D that didn’t mean he was playing from behind all the time.

Fucking Matt Ryan 2016 numbers.

I think Mariota is worth nothing. He looks like he won't be a starting QB in the league, and this is the last year on his deal--at 20 million bucks.
