Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I was against dealing Hand but the way he's pitching makes him extremely valuable. With NY getting EE and Boston and Minnesota sure to load up by the deadline our chances this year are virtually nil. Lots can go wrong with a pitcher between now and October 2020. I would see what kind of haul we can get for Hand and trade him if it's good enough. Between Hand and Bauer we might get three guys who can help us next season and three more to add to our lower level stockpile.
Fuck NY

Jim Bowden at The Athletic proposed a deal where Bauer gets sent to Milwaukee for 2B Keston Hiura. 0% chance that Milwaukee would make that trade, although I would be thrilled if they did.

I'd be VERY interested in seeing who the Tribe would target in potential Hand and Bauer trades.

On one hand, they're obviously trying to kind of thread the needle a bit with rebuilding while still competing.... so they'd be interested in MLB ready or close to MLB ready talent.

On the other hand, with guys like Jones, Valera, Rocchio, Freeman, Benson, Naylor, Hankins, Rodriguez, etc., they could have an Astros/Braves/Padres rebuild type of talent in the lower minors.

Most likely they'll try to do both-- an MLB ready headliner with 2-3 high level lottery tickets.

A trade of Bauer to the Yankees for Clint Frazier and Estevan Florial would fit your description.

I don't think Cleveland would do that. We'd have to get more than just Hiura.

I respectfully disagree, as being able to watch Hiura at second base for the next several years instead of Jason Kipnis would be like going from dating Rebel Wilson to Margot Robbie.

I have no problem with a Hiura return.

I'd rather trade for a good prospect, MLB talent, and two lower prospects... But I'm fine with swinging for one elite prospect.

He works as a headliner, but I'm going to need another piece or two to part with Bauer. Granted he had multiple years of team control, but Chris Archer, who isn't as good as Bauer, netted two top 20 prospects and a borderline top 100 guy from the Pirates just last year.

@Derek

I do agree with you on the trade with Hiura idea, I feel they would want at least a couple more prospects back with him, though there overall prospects aren't as good as San Diego would be on paper

Padres have a load minor league system. I would trade bauer there for 3-4 top prospects
Id stay away from trading in the american league
Honestly i am open to trading lindor hand bauer and even santana
Load up on quality prospects. Those 4 would bring 10-12 prospects. Bring up bradley

To me though, we have enough talent to get to the playoffs this season and next season, so by what you say, sounds like we are going for it in 2022 which means trade Kluber as well this off season. If we trade Lindor, we need to trade everyone else as well who could bring some value that isn't under longer term control for the organization. We are in the wild card race easily this season and should be still a contender in 2020.

I love a lot of the prospects in the Padres system, but I’m not sure if they will be buyers this summer.

So in a hypothetical world where the Indians bring back Clint Frazier: would he be able to hold down left field without being a net negative? I ask because that is the easiest spot at Progressive Field and where they stuck Brantley who wasn't a particularly good defender. With that said, it seems like their defensive struggles are a bit different, if that makes any sense.

Hell yes he can.

Even if he were slightly in the negative, his offense more than warrants the difference.
