2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I cant help but get the feeling Bol Bol is going to be a steal.

Idk. Too me hes a Kristaps Porzingis clone. So getting him in the 10 to 20 range is good value for the player. But he is going to have the same health concerns Kristaps has. So when he plays he will be a steal but the question is how often will he be available? His frame is worrisome both short-term and long-term. So depends on how you define steal. If its availability I don't think he will be a steal, if its purely on talent with no concerns for future injuries he will be one of the best value picks.

The thing that bugs me about Barrett defensively is that I can understand a lack of defensive effort in college where a hyper-talented offensive player has to carry the entire offensive burden for his team, and just doesn't have the energy to do it at the other end. It's more or less part of the team's strategy: "you get us buckets, and we'll try to give you a bit of the breather on the other end." That may be Morant's situation.

But that wasn't Barrett's situation. Including Tre Jones, he played with three other guys who project to be first round NBA players. One of them was one of the most unstoppable forces basketball has seen in years. And that guy busted his ass defensively. He also happened to be one of Barrett's best friends, and his roommate.

What kind of a...douchebag (?) watches his great friend bust his ass on both ends of the court, and apparently couldn't be bothered to put forth defensive effort himself? How do you do that? It's just so weird that it makes me wonder if something is up with the guy in terms of his attitude/motor/ego.

Not saying I wouldn't draft him, but I really think it's a red flag.

I was pretty pro-Barrett. However, those questions and the way he handled the "New York or bust" business pre-draft, it's turned me off on his attitude. He seems a little too entitled.

That said, I'd still take him.

I just don't see us trading 5 until we see how the draft goes. Unless we get a great offer now, why not wait and see who is their at 5. Imagine if something did happen and Barrett did fall, be kicking yourself for making that trade. While I do not see this happening, why take the risk. Line up potential trades now, then once Barrett goes at 3, you can make calls to make a trade.

Barrett falling to 5 sounds like a trigger to me. He is a entitled brat, but angry entitled brats are not a bad thing.

Most of the one and dones feel entitled. They have been since 12 years old
The fact that sexton never gave off that vibe is one reason i like him

Obviously, neither does Zion, which is sort of the trigger for me with Barrett. Here he had his best buddy and teammate setting the perfect example for him in terms of always giving effort on both ends of the floor. But apparently, he decided that he was too good to do the same. It's a really odd situation because you normally don't see two players that highly ranked, and that close personally, on a team. So the contrast was really stark. If Zion was my friend/roommate...I'd have been embarrassed. So if we wouldn't put forth any effort on defense to help his best friend...why would he do it anywhere else?

To me its apparent and the main reason I don't want Barrett. He cares more about being a "star" then he does being a good player. Its why he makes flashy plays and is good at the aspects of the game that the media will hype. He doesn't seem to care about doing the little things that it takes to win games. When a player cares more about his stardom/image then winning thats the biggest red flag to me. From the outside looking in thats what I see when it comes to RJ.

I don’t share those thoughts on Bol at all. I see a twig of a man, who has a high center of gravity, who isn’t really able to bend, he can’t hold weight, and he can’t stay healthy. He’s never going to be a starter, as he doesn’t have the durability to hold up. Just look at his dad! His frame is not very different at all.

Basically, you’re looking at a 7’2” guy that’s going to be a three point shooter off the bench and that’s about it. I really hope the Cavs pass on him.

Chris Paul came out of college with phenomenal lateral quickness and footwork. He was already adept at defending the pick-and-roll and efficient at stealing the ball (though, Sexton did rack up more steals). They were just different defensive prospects.

Not sure if I'm reading this wrong or what, but Chris Paul had 160 steals in 63 college games. Sexton had just 28 in 33 games.

if i have to see another chain of posts about bol bol i'm going to freak out

poster #1: "bol bol"
poster #2: "injury tall skinny health dad"

Yes. Everyone agrees that Bol is the most polarizing player in the draft.

Those guys are bigger projects than Reddish, who is 5th due to his own questions . Don't get fooled by the smoke. NBA drafts have pecking orders and this one is no different.
none of those 3 are long term projects though all 3 have legit base skills and athleticism/length of NBA caliber players etc there is no difference in the 3 as it pertains to upside or how far away they are unless you want to assume reddish was held back by Zion and RJ which makes no sense to me given he was getting the looks taking the shots and still choked.

They even have more questions without the projection and of course Reddish was held back by Williamson especially. Even when he was hurt for 2 games, you aren't going to change the style much. Barrett taking up the court and throwing up wild shots.
