Good news. They have been for years.

Part of me thinks the most likely deal for Love is Whiteside plus picks and a younger player (like Simons or someone else) in February when Nurkic is back. Love would make a lot of sense for them in a playoff run over Whiteside and Nurkic.

I don’t think any team is trading for Love & his huge contract until he shows that he can stay healthy and produce at a high-level. Portland is a team that makes sense, but their GM, Neil Olshey, is no dummy.

Last year's surgery was pretty much elective. Chances are that Love would have played A LOT more games had the team truly been a contender.

Since the 2013/14 season, Love has played:

13/14 - 77 games
14/15 - 79 games
15/16 - 97 games
16/17 - 78 games
17/18 - 80 games
18/19 - 22 games

During that same time Anthony Davis has played:

13/14 - 67 games
14/15 - 72 games
15/16 - 61 games
16/17 - 75 games
17/18 - 84 games
18/19 - 56 games

Let's also recall that Love now brings A LOT of postseason experience with him and also bring Championship experience.

I'm tired of the BS that "Love can't stay healthy." If he can play 60 games in the regular season and play every playoff game, no team will be worried. There is no evidence he cannot consistently do that.

I know of several teams that say they are interested - and I've been talking to the staff of several the past few days. I work in the production side, but the VPs of Entertainment and the Producers for these teams know the GMs and hear all the noise.

So know this - those with several teams in the NBA expect Love to be pursued because he is still highly regarded and his deal is seen as very fair in the modern NBA. The salary cap is not going down, but Love's percentage of the cap WILL be going down or staying even throughout his contract. Most seem to think he has 2-3 productive years left.

And Portland is definitely interested. I know he's on their radar.

I think Pat Riley is going to swing a 3 team deal and end up with Russ and Love to go with Butler. We'll end up with a couple young players, picks and a bad contract.

I did see a couple of people suggest we were the 3rd team in a heat deal for Westbrook. Don't think the Heat have the value to satisfy both teams in a trade for Love and Westbrook though.

But OKC would be interested in the JR contract. I would doubt Love has much to do with it.

I'm not even sure Miami has enough to just get Westbrook. OKC already owns Miami's 2021 and 2023 picks. It doesn't really makes sense for them to try to make Miami better.

Herro + Bam + Take protections off 23 Heat First + Unprotected 2025 Heat First + Expirings. If Thunder turn an offer along those lines dowm their GM needs to be fired.

Love has dealt with injuries going all the way back to his Minnesota days. It’s pretty much an annual thing with him. He’s soon to be 31, he’s not a strong defender, and he’s signed for 4 more years, which isn’t ideal if, as you say, he has 2-3 good years left.

I’m not trying to trash Kevin Love. He’s a real solid player, when healthy, and is more of a complimentary piece, at this stage of his career. The only teams that would be interested in him are contending teams in need a stretch-4. Off the top of my head, I can think of Portland, Denver, & Houston. Maybe Indiana. The two LA teams, Utah, & Boston could have interest, but they lack the pieces to make a deal work. Beyond that, I struggle to find a good fit.

I suspect that, as with JR Smith, what the Cavaliers think the asset is worth and the type of offers they are receiving is not in the same ballpark. That could improve if Love stays healthy and has a productive first half of the season.

I've thought that Indy makes the most sense for the Cavs to trade with. A trade centered around Sabonis or Myles Turner returns a young big that can shoot and we aren't left with the same big man rotation problems we had last season without Love.

Yeah this is the only one I like.
