Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Everything I have heard suggests Lindor loves Cleveland and would prefer to stay... But if a big market team will give him $12-$14 million more per year over more years, then honestly, Lindor probably should leave.

At this point, and this is with understanding everything with market limitations and everything, I would be extremely disappointed if the Indians were that far off on a contract with Lindor.

They need to scrounge every nickle and penny that can get and give it to him. He is the ultimate Indian, he's already on the mount rushmore of Indians for me.

Paul Dolan was on one of he Spring Training broadcasts on STO and referred to Bryan Rocchio as our future shortstop. That told me quite a bit about his thinking and how confident he is in the farm system and player development staff in the system. We’ll see.

Lindor is a generational talent and if they think that not signing him will keep the attendance the same they'll be in for a surprise. Stop paying 12-14 million to guys like Kipnis and get creative with your payroll. Like a previous poster said they have a lot of players in the next couple years who have low salaries so now is the time to do it. Sign Lindor long term and let the farm system develop.

It is what it is, I don't expect Lindor to be back. However, they must make a competitive offer.

Additionally, Paul Dolan needs to shut the fuck up. He shouldn't be commenting on prospects and who is or isn't a future starter, IMO. The guy spent all pre-season putting his foot firmly in his mouth. Must be a family flaw.

I know a lot can change in three years in professional sports, but there isn’t a current no-brainer landing spot for Frankie when he hits free agency. I would imagine the Yankees lock up Didi, Bogarts was extended earlier this year in Boston, the Dodgers have Seager, the Cubs have Baez and still have to pay Bryant, the Angels will probably lock up Simmons and just gave out over $400 million to Trout, the Astros have Correa, etc. Maybe the Giants make a run at him, although Zaidi doesn’t strike me as a guy who would hand out that type of massive contract. Perhaps the Blue Jays shock us all since they have only $4 million total on the books for that season, and, obviously, Shapiro and Adkins are very fond and familiar with Frankie.

I’m ready for the 2nd half... get healthy and let the tribe do what Tito Francona led teams do in the 2nd half which is win

Okay then, i nominate you as the poster of our next series thread vs Minnesota aka the biggest series so far this season. Should be a fun one.

Going to continue to beat this drum.

Indians are by no means out on keeping Lindor in town.

I still say its not better than a 40% chance to keep Lindor to be honest. Not because he doesn't want to stay or because the owners want to keep him: the market makes it almost impossible for a small market team to keep a guy like Lindor when he could easily earn 10%+ more in a bigger market.

If he continues playing like he is and he can get 30 mil a season on the market, it will be almost impossible for the Indians to keep him at that price. If he is willing to sign for 20ish mil a season, I think we can keep him. We also do not know how/if we can get a new TV deal and other things since that could be a way to get up pay roll. Also hopefully in the next bargaining agreement, smaller markets get a little more help.

How much do you think it would cost?

Depends on the length.

He’s going to get 30 million a year, like Machado got.

But if all things are equal, Lindor wants to stay in Cleveland. Whether people believe it or not, the Indians are in the drivers seat, but there are still things that have to fall their way in order for it to actually happen.

Here is the deal, its 46% percent.

Not 40%.
