With Westbrook’s awful contract, the Heat have plenty of ammo. It really won’t take much to get him.

The Heat just don’t seem to want to give any of it up—including Adebayo and Herro (whom they just signed).
OKC doesn't want BAM or Winslow. They want draft picks. They already have two future Heat picks. They also don't want a ton of salary coming into next season and the Heat would be offer $15M+ of that on guys they don't want.

They have no interest in making their Miami picks come later in the draft either.

There's no benefit for OKC to deal with Miami and there's no rush. If a great offer doesn't come in over the next few weeks, they feel they can wait until closer to the deadline and apparently Westbrook is okay with that. He has told them he is interested in a trade, but not that it has to happen immediately.

As I see it OKC doesn't have a lot of options when it comes to dealing Westbrook.
Seems like a few teams like Minnesota have kicked the tires and backed off.
If teams are just offering contracts and a crappy asset they might as well keep him...and if they keep him
old Westbrook might just say " look I'll be a happy camper but you gotta go out and do me a solid,,,go get my old
college roomy" ,,,Westbrook/Adams/Love sorta big 3. Then we can poach some of that bundle of draft picks they have.

They can keep Westbrook a year and trade him next year when the free agent market is weak. He has value, just there aren't many teams that can make a deal work. When he played with Durant that one year, they almost went to the finals with him as the 2nd best player on the team, not sure where this bullshit that Westbrook doesn't have value because of his contract. Westbrook is a max player, he got the super max, someone will pony up for him in the next 12 months.

I do think Front Offices have short memories. IF Kevin balls out for half a season, someone will definitely want to take a chance on him. I don't think he nets max value right now. Might need a season or until allstar to make it happen. Even just a year off the contract looks better.

There is also always a team that needs spacing... the team plays well to start the year, but either their star cannot get into the lane, their bench offense dies, or they are just being killed by opposing threes, it happens every year.

Kevin will have value at the deadline. I do not see any reason to rush and trade him.

Really similar to Westbrook situation, except Love really fits on any team. The contract is there and we can afford to wait until something good pops up. Unfortunate injury on a contender with assets.

I do think the Pacers with Sabonis and Turner are the team to watch. If they start looking pretty good I could see them thinking Kevin Love puts them into contender status.

Also the Pacers just drafted Goga. I think they are preparing to move either Sabonis or Turner. Either one is a solid player to get back for Love. Turner's contract makes it easier to do a trade to make salaries match up. I would lean toward wanting Sabonis more because we would have control over keeping him for longer.

I think it's the most natural trade that could possibly happen. It's a very low risk trade for both sides that would net what each team would desire.

There had been talk from OKC contingent that FO was considering seeing how they do and figuring things out at Trade Deadline. If they are in or near playoff hunt, Love is a name they have mentioned to help their team and make Russ happy. They have draft picks to spend in a trade and can stay under the tax now.

Concern in OKC is attendance plummeting if they just go full rebuild. They may commit to that if they are clearly out of it with just Russ, but if they are not then they may try to find ways to add a vet while also being able to add youth over the next few years.

Miami just doesn't have what OKC wants and any piece OKC actually is interested in, Miami doesn't want to part with. The Heat people were very skeptical of Russ ending up in Miami before February, if ever.

Most teams want to see where they are after the FA shakeup and not commit to Westbrook yet. They'll have a much better idea where they stand when the calendar turns over. Same for Love. Everyone thinks Love will be a very hot commodity at the deadline if he is healthy and plays well.

Love has the chest of a 16 year old boy...not sure I’d be showing that off there, Kev. Idk, with all the money these NBA players make, and all the resources available to them, they have no excuse for not being in top physical condition.
That’s what you took from that?
