2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It is just hard to believe we will trade Bauer being 5.5 games back of the Twins. Honestly if we take the series from them, if not sweep them after the All-star break, we have to buy not sell. I am not against doing a couple moves, but unless we get an absolute over pay, I think Bauer is staying in Cleveland!

Who would be your targets in theory from Cardinals and/or the Braves?

I don't expect the Indians to trade Bauer at the deadline. Just responding to that tweet about the Cardinals potentially being interested and thinking the Braves might also have interest.

I really don't love the Cardinals system. I like Tommy Edman a lot and he plays a position of need. Not sure guys like Tyler O'Neill, Harrison Bader or Lane Thomas are upgrades over what we already have. It's tricky because the Cardinals would be subtracting from the big club (which happens to be the exact team they'd be trying to strengthen by hypothetically trading for Bauer).

I don't think Bauer, with only one year of control, would land Nolan Gorman or Dylan Carlson or even Andrew Knizner. Rehabbing Alex Reyes under the Indians watch would be interesting..... provided his medicals check out.

The Braves have a surplus of close-to-the-majors outfielders and a major surplus of close-to-the-majors starting pitchers. Take your pick. I'd sweeten the pot, if necessary.

I am not trading Bauer unless I get a young MLB hitter with team control at the end of the day with some other solid prospects. I don't think we will trade him either right now, since we aren't going to trade him unless its a complete over pay.

I've changed my mind.... I think someone will meet the Tribe's price for Bauer by the deadline.

Ken Rosenthal said yesterday that the Indians are gonna be "aggressive listeners" on Bauer. Tim Naehring was in Cincy to watch Bauer pitch the other day-- he's the Yankees top evaluator.

Joel Sherman from the NY Post said the Astros are the most interested team in Bauer and that the Indians are looking for a Chris Archer for Tyler Glasnow/Austin Meadows type of return.

I think Houston is by far the best bet. They just have a ton of pieces to make a deal work. They have young major league talent, power hitters and pitching in the upper minors, high-end talent in the lower minors. A deal centered around Kyle Tucker makes a lot of sense.

Oh and the Indians are hot for Domingo Santana from the Mariners

I did post about him way earlier/aka a couple weeks ago he was rumored to be an Indians target. Though not sure if we need the leader in SOs in the AL

I think we are missing some important elements here ... notably loyalty and momentum... I do not see Francona wanting to disrupt either ..: find a bat to replace the role of Bradley and maybe a bullpen guy .. but there is not a chance that he will roll over on Ramirez or Kipnis or any of our 37 outfielders

I don't see anyone from the current MLB team that we don't want to keep per se, so it feels like they want to add a couple players to the mix, to help the guys, but regardless we still have to move a couple just because we do have a full 40 man roster. I think we are at a good place chemistry wise on this roster right now, and I felt last year donaldson addition on paper looked good, and he is a good guy, but it did hurt the chemistry of the team last season.

It wouldn't surprise me if we go for Santana of the Mariners and personally on paper I want Sam Dyson from San Fran to fill out the last bullpen spot. I do believe we will make a move this trade deadline, but it will be for guys who have some control available, so both Santana and Dyson fit that bill.

They have the Indians trading for Detroit's Castellanos, who I wanted last year at the deadline. He would be a good bat in this lineup, but I don't really see them being buyers unless they are really close to Minnesota by the deadline.

Indians are 5.5 back of the Twins with a series against the twins, then 2x series against the Royals, series against the tigers and a series against the blue jays all before the trade deadline.

While minnesota in the stretch is the Indians, Mets, A's, Yankees, and White Soxs.

So if we take the Series in Minnesota, on paper we should be no more than 2-3 games back of Minnesota, when the trade deadline comes up. With 50-60 games left then, we should be able to take the Division if all goes well.

Don’t forget about our annual late Aug injury that happens on a freak play. Seems like we run into that one every year while headed towards playoffs

They're playing way better now, too.

I think they can go on another winning streak, the schedule favors it for sure. If J-Ram remains hitting good, this offense gets such a massive boost.

And again, this trade mentioned in the article by SI makes a ton of sense. Would be great.

Worried on the cost of renting Castellanos

Martin had another year on his contract, but the Indians had to give up Willi Castro for him last year and around he was around #10 in the Indians prospect rankings

I'll feel better about it if the Indians can take this series vs. the Twins and then handle their business vs. the upcoming bottom feeders on their schedule

Someone mentioned Will Benson or Oscar Gonzalez for Castellanos

Would be a fair deal, IMO. Not sure if the Indians would target him, because he's mostly limited to being a DH and can't defend nearly at all.

Some targets I'd have ahead of him:

Brian Anderson - Marlins
Whit Merrifield - Royals
Adam Eaton - Nats

Moonshots:
Michael Conforto - Mets
Dominic Smith - Mets
Jeff McNeil - Mets

If the Mets want to really blow it up, get in where the getting is good. They've shown a complete lack of understanding with regards to player value, tossed away Kelenic for an albatross contract and a closer they fucked up.

The Mets are interesting for sure; I brought them up a week or so ago.

I don't think they'd trade McNeil, but I would think that one of Dom Smith or Conforto would be available. Add Nimmo to that list in the offseason if everyone is still there.
