OSU Recruiting Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think they did pretty decent damage control, all things considered.

Not the best recruiting day as word has gotten out that the Buckeyes lost (2) of the best RB recruits in the country on the same day. Neither had publically committed but were both thought to be silent verbals.

Bijan Robinson stings a lot....5* freak of an athlete.

Jaylon Knighton was supposed to be a change of pace guy and a top 100 recruit..4*.

RB isn’t a massive need although great college RB’s make a huge difference st the NCAA. It’s a bit of a bummer.

The class is still loaded and likely lands 4th or 5th nationally by end of cycle.

Kind of odd; both seemed like shoe-ins and all of a sudden we lose both?

The presumption is a lot of negative recruiting.

OSU has one of the best receiving classes in country, and Day's influence on the offense leans a bit more towards throwing the ball. It's also likely being planted that Day is only at OSU temporarily assuming Fields develops the way most assume he will. He'd have turned Haskins and then Fields into high end QB prospects and the NFL would be beating his door down. Lincoln Riley is facing the same issues at OU with Jason Garrett's contract in-flux.

In both cases, it seems tOSU is also losing out on kids wanting to be closer to home. Robinson is apparently leaning towards USC (which is odd to me with their coaching situation, but he's from AZ) and Knighton is from Florida. Again, FSU doesn't seem that stable to me either, with as awful as their offense looked last year. It is a bit perplexing, but that's recruiting......

And we lost out on another 5 star RB today. Sigh. Kendall Milton commits to Georgia. He had UGA, Bama, Ohio State and LSU as his short list.

Eh, Milton is more of a "you can't lose what you never had." It's been clear Georgia was his destination since early June. The Robinson and Knighton situations hurt because those guys were silently committed to OSU.

Yeah...Milton was never "in the bag". OSU had Knighton and Robinson on the board internally. Then lost out on both right before they were set to announce to the Buckeyes.

Sounds like Robinson could possibly still be in play.....think I'm gonna just take a break from recruiting for a bit. I'm getting to that age where caring about a 17 year olds decision on school choice shouldn't be this important to me......

Read somewhere that Teague put on a bunch of good weight and has been showing up in the Spring. Also had a great Spring Game (I know, I know).

We will see but it's not like we have to throw true Freshman Crowley in the mix or not a bruiser in McCall if Dobbins goes down.

Think we will be okay.

Jack Sawyer is now the #1 player in the 2021 class.

OSU picked up another 2021 commitment in Reid Carrico, a four star LB out of Ironton. They now have four of the top five 2021 recruits in Ohio committed and all fall within the top 126 nationally of 247Sports composite rankings.

Keeping that kid away from Clemson is going to pay dividends.
