Dan Gilbert

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As owners go he is one of the better ones. He's passionate and involved and wants what he thinks is best for the team and the city. I remember in 2010 when LeBron left I emailed him and he replied back very quickly. He was very generous and humble. I was actually a little surprised that he would take the time out of his busy schedule.

I think we forget sometimes that owners can also be passionate fans. I'm glad that his condition was diagnosed so quickly that really helps. He is a good man and I pray will have a full recovery.

It just goes to show, money aint everything. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Agree 100%. He certainly spends above and beyond. He also had lbj and his pack of lice all over the front office for 11 years. He finally does have his team back and looks to be building something quite different

Awful news.

Sounds like Dan might be out for a while.

All things considered, the circumstances are about as good as they could possibly be......if a health event like this happens.

What I mean by that is, a lot of people ignore the initial symptoms. "Not feeling well, going to go lie down"......but either Dan or someone around him was like "something isn't quite right, let's just go to the hospital".

Every minute matters for stroke victims and early intervention is what leads to good outcomes. It doesn't guarantee good outcomes but immediate treatment, under hospital supervision, gives you a fighting chance to make a full recovery.

Hoping Dan gets better and doesn't rush back......but hearing everyone made the right decisions leading up to the stroke is at least encouraging that he and his people gave Dan the best chance to bounce back. Hopefully he does.

With Dan's current health issue, I guess that this draft would really be the Koby show... This would be a good gauge how he is as a talent evaluator...

Get well Dan.

On the verge of starting a new future title contender in New Orleans, Pelicans general manager David Griffin is ready to open up about the last time he led a championship team. Griffin said that the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers went about getting a ring the wrong way, torpedoing their long-term prospects in search of a win.
“Everything we did was so inorganic and unsustainable and, frankly, not fun. I was miserable,” Griffin said in a new interview with Sports Illustrated.

Griffin said that the environment wasn't one he felt at home in, telling the magazine that he decided to move on from his six-years-held post no matter what after the 2016 win.
“Literally the moment we won the championship I knew I was gonna leave. There was no way I was gonna stay for any amount of money,” he said.

He said that his time in Cleveland soured him on the sport of basketball and Griffin left the world of front offices completely for a few seasons.
“I didn’t watch the league, and I didn’t love the game anymore,” Griffin said. “I was so fixated on outcome [in Cleveland] that I just totally lost my joy.”
He came back for the prospect of rebooting a franchise in New Orleans, hoping to build the team up from its perennial also-ran status.

“Culturally, I’ve always wanted to raise a family at a team,” Griffin said, with the piece noting that he wanted to build a culture of success like Golden State.

This made me blink on a few levels..never heard of this before.

Sounds a little different than the notion that Gilbert told him to kick rocks.

Though I guess Griffin just found the whole situation to be toxic. Mostly because of Gilbert.

Semantics?

This is really interesting..because mostly the narrative is that Gilbert wouldn't promote him or give him what he wanted..which if you believe this ,is the opposite take.. Griff wanted out..maybe Dan was trying to get him to stay..add in all the moves that had to be made, plus Irving's trade demands..Lebron's ego, JR's ego,etc..
Seems the man that was showcased as bringing people together couldn't deal with the toxic locker room himself.

This sounds like lebron, and the perfect example are the lakers, because lebron goes there and all the younger players are shipped off. This comes from having diva players, and Griff should be praying that Zion doesn't become one
