I looked and didn't see one of these, so forgive me if I missed it.

I am posting the following for the 3 serious responses in the inevitable sea of jokes.

The walls in my house are bare. I'd like to print out some large photos/prints and frame them for some of my walls. I'm looking more for black and white here. Any ideas on cool photos? Good sources to use to find printable photos (preferably free, but hopefully on the cheaper side) . My plan is to buy a few frames, order the prints at Walmart or wherever, and throw them up there.

I don't know your budget but I put up some local art. For example a local artist specializes in turning large popcorn tubs into these amazing sharks. I picked one with blood on its mouth for effect, but i get lots of positive comments. I also got a large IKEA cubicle and put a bunch of knickknacks in them. I collect 2 things, globes and Menorah's. Probably have about a dozen of each around the house.

But to each their own, and i have a decent sized house, but i only have a few pictures on the walls, most of my things have dimension, i prefer that personally.

Check out my Instagram if you like anything on there I'd be happy to send over some jpegs over email so you can print them. I've been meaning to set up my larger format photo printer but I haven't thought about where I would sell them.

We've got a large wall that we arranged 3 large pictures on, but then we saw this beautiful mural on a large piece of fabric...hard to describe... but its hanging from a stylish curtain rod type thing.

I guess I'm saying that framed pictures aren't the only option for a large wall. I've seen really cool wood and metal sculptures (thin and not overly heavy), that we also considered. Fabric hangings, sculptings, an arrangment of framed pics are all options.

What do you mean by "large" photos?
What subject matter are you looking for? Portraits? Nature? Cityscapes?

You know, I am not sure where I want to go for subject matter. I'm really just browsing stuff until it catches my eye. I think I want black and white, but I'm not married to that.

For size, I think I want something like a 36x24 size or something large like that.

You might think I am crazy, but if you have time, go to some open houses and you can get ideas from others. Especially a high end open house where you can duplicate a look at the fraction of the price.

I was impressed with a trick my mom always pulled for decorating a living room wall:

After she settled on the color pattern for the furniture (example: she had some powder blue, cherry wood, and yellow throw pillows) she would find a big cheap canvas at a Goodwill. It doesn't matter what is painted on it, because she would buy a bucket of white base paint and paint over it. Then she would buy smaller samples of the colors that matched her furniture. Then, she just made some geometric shapes with the colors in the room - powder blue, a reddish brown, and the same shade of yellow.

The room would look like a designer was hired and chose everything very carefully. She could even drop a brag/not brag that she painted the huge painting. It's probably cheaper than printing a black and white photo at Fed Ex/Kinko's.

BTW: Just finished a "This Ol' House" project today. Home Depot has a 30% off sale on 2 inch faux wood blinds. I've had the cheap vinyl or aluminum shades on my windows for years. My kids beat them up and they never bend back right. About $300 bucks later with a little elbow grease and I couldn't be happier. From outside looking at the windows, it looks like a fucking adult lives inside.

I found yellow jackets living in the siding of my house. There was a little spot below the window sill where they could get in. If they were honey bees, I may have figured out a way to save them, but these yellow jackets...fuck them. What was kind of cool was that there was always one little fucker just guarding the entrance like he would sound the alarm if danger was near or something.

I thought about some of those sprays, but I ended up finding this 1% Tempo Dust stuff plus this air puffer thingy.

All the reviews mentioned how thorough and permanent it was. It also didn't kill them right away, so it would be carried to wherever else the other yellow jackets were and kill them too. The problem was that the applicator was not a distance shooter. I needed to get right up there and give a couple good puffs of the powder. I figured dusk was the best time to do it, so I put on my make-shift beekeeper outfit and set out to do the deed.

I get to the window, and I can barely see anything. These ski goggles have a tint to them, and the light on my head wasn't helping. There goes my lightning quick sneak attack. I got up there, felt around the hole like I was a sophomore in high school, puffed three times, then bolted. I get back around my house towards my garage and start to check for attackers. None. Whew.

I wasn't going back there until the morning though, just in case.

This morning, I went there and didn't see any wasps. I went inside, banged on the wall where they were nesting. I went back out and none again. I banged on the siding this time. None.

The stuff did the trick. Highly recommend.

Is it rude to say you look like Elmo?
