2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not unless he has a horrific injury that is going to keep him out for all of 2020

They'd be incredibly stupid to do so. Plenty of teams out there would give up assets for Kluber, if the Indians don't want to pay him

If you feel you aren't keeping Kluber, then you trade him for the best offer. We should be able to get at least half way decent prospects for him. Baring injury his value should still be pretty decent.

Meh it is his first time throwing in a real game in months.

However, it is alarming that his velocity is low per reports.
Kluber has historically had low velocity out of the gates, I'm not sure if it has to do with the cold weather or stretching out or whatever, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got some of it back. Salazar was much more worrying.

He was literally injured.

He was literally injured.

Yes but his injury was a freak one not a career one, so sorry for not clarifying that in the end since there is a big difference.

I am referring to something way worse. I don't remember though the last time another pitcher broke a bone like that in his arm and when he was able to come back since I know pitchers do put a lot of stress on their arms when they throw a lot.

To hell with 40 man issues, I want this guy pitching for the big league club. Been smitten since I saw him pitch an inning in spring training.

I don't even think we'd have an issue moving him up here if we wanted to.

Cut/DFA Cole, bring up Karinchak. Doesn't seem too hard to me. I don't think we'll see him until next season though.

Until he shows he can avoid walks to some degree I don't think he will get the call. In 18.2 AA/AAA innings this year he's walked 11 batters. I don't think that translates well to the MLB.

Yes his strikeout numbers are amazing but let him work back a little more.

Yep, he's at 5.4 BB/9 across all minor league levels this year.

I think the kid has huge talent and should be a key cog in the pen next year. Not going to force anything this year though since we are cruising right now.

Despite @sportscoach 's protesting, there are no 40-man roster limitations right now.

We have guys like Jordan Stephens who have no business being on it.

Though Jordan Stephens 40 man spot will be going to Kluber.

I have no qualms if we call up Karinchak, but it would be for Cole since we don’t have enough guys up that actually have options. We have to keep up Civale and Plesac right now, so my guess is Karinchak cause of the injury may not get the call up this season, but should be on next seasons roster without a doubt.

The 40 man issue isn't this season as I understand it. From what I've read, he doesn't have to be rostered this winter because he's not yet rule 5 eligible. Even with guys like Salazer, Kip and Puig off the 40 man we are going to have some tough decisions to make this winter.

If I'm wrong about his service time someone correct me - I do think he can help us this year.

He doesn’t need to be protect on the Rule 5 this next off season, but because of his talent people want him on the big league club. They are hoping Karinchak and Johnson end up on the big league club sometime this season.

Personally I am looking at the factor Kluber and Otero will likely be off the 60 day in late August/early September there is a good probability there won’t be a spot to get Karinchak and Johnson on the MLB roster this season in my opinion.

There's really no place for Johnson this year with Puig added and Naquin playing well. Heck, even Allen is playing well recently. Johnson will get his chance in the spring.
