Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So for the sake of productive conversation, I thought I'd point out a few names:

Montez Sweat, Josh Norman, Landon Collins, and Quinton Dunbar.

Those are some of the best and highest paid defenders on the Redskins. None of them were on the field when Mayfield and the offense tore it up in their touchdown drive. Once I heard the name Troy Apke a few times on the stop, I knew the offense was making it look easy because the Redskins didn't mind giving the Browns an easy one.

We're the Browns resting some key players? Absolutely. But the offense might not have it that easy all season and I hadn't seen many people mention the other side of it.

Agreed it wont be this easy, but I counter you with no OBJ or Jarvis. Further they didnt play Chubb that long either and Hunt didnt play, although i get we will be without him for 8 games anyawys.

He didn't go against the best washington has, but he didn't have all of his weapons either.

I hear you, and I listened to Jim Donovan call the game so I knew who was out for the Browns. Today I'm watching the NFL TV broadcast and it's also one sided. All the articles in my feed were sunshine, lollipops and rainbows.

The bigger hurdle for me wasn't the missing cornerbacks and safeties, but the backup pass rushers. I didn't see Johnathan Allen, Ryan Kerrigan, or any of the main pass rushers on the field in that drive. If the backup Browns receivers had a good day against backup defensive backs, cool. But I don't think our offensive line faced high level pressure, therefore it was pitch and catch for Baker.

Baker is still the fucking shit, just some perspective.

100 agree. Our tackles were not tested at all. There weren't many throws that Baker gave a pass rush enough time to get to him. Was watching NFL network and they say the most impressive thing about Baker is how quick he makes decisions. Best young qb at reading a defense and making a decision since Brees was a young qb.

Basically I think like Brees or Brady, when Baker is in a groove, it will be pitch and catch for him. The key to beating Baker like the other greats is 2-fold. Confusing him with a defense to make him hold the ball longer, then get to him before he finds his 2nd or 3rd target, Also, better cover the outlet receiver too, or a pass rush wont matter then either.

A good QB is the most important position in all of sports. Defense can win championships, see Baltimore, but its almost always a top QB (except Eagles, although Noles was amazing)

Whats the opposite of a vanilla offense?

Is it chocolate? Or do you have to exit the ice cream analogy altogether?

It's such a strange phrase. Vanilla is delicious and anything but boring or plain.

It should really be butter pecan or pistachio. That’s boring and what old people eat.

Good vanilla ice cream like Haagan Dazs is delicious. Cheap vanilla ice cream like McDonalds soft serve is a flavorless abomination.

BTW, is anyone else a little concerned that Baker was forced to buy an RV as a rookie hazing stunt last year... but now he seems really into them? It feels a little like a frat pledging dare gone horribly wrong.

Sounds like serendipity to me. Shows the kid is adaptable.

Probably prefers Haagen Dasz but if you gave him McDonald’s he’d eat it and give you that happy nod and convince everyone in the car to be appreciative and leave you alone if thats all that was available.

Ideal road trip companion.

Ghirardelli is famous for their chocolate, but people shouldn't sleep on their vanilla ice cream. I get 1 scoop of chocolate and 1 scoop of vanilla and it's amazing together.

place in Delphos Ohio has the best soft serve vanilla ice cream I have ever had and I have been around the country and world a couple of times. Im serious. I am not from Delphos and I use to laugh when people told me this. They place has a line every day and all the time. Town has probably about 7000 people and another ice cream place and a Dairy Queen. I've tried to sneak in there at 2 coming back from Lima and still a line.
