I have other factors with being diabetic. I can't be super high in protein because a lot of my organs are at longterm health risk because of my higher average sugar level. Kidneys among other organs can be a problem for older diabetics and too much protein can put stress on them.
My calorie intake can be an issue because sometimes I need to consume more calories because of low blood sugar (carbs) or even the opposite where my blood sugar is high so I cant stuff myself. I've noticed that lifting can actually elevate my blood sugar, where cardio will drop it like a stone. If my blood sugar is already high I can't lift.
I should be able to work that out with trial and error and perhaps a visit to a dietitian at my doctors office. I really don't need to drop a whole lot because my BMI is just 25. The goal would be to just drop some fat, increase some muscle mass, increase cardio. Essentially just get a little healthier to get a head star before 40's approach.
