Jones, Freeman, Rocchio, Valera, Gabriel Rodriguez, Naylor, Bracho could be the core of the next golden era of Tribe baseball post Lindor/Kluber.

In the offseason I plan on making a big post about the financials of keeping Lindor. I don't have the research to back anything up yet, but I have a feeling dumping 30+ per year into Lindor might be what feels good--but isn't the smartest move.
 
So I just learned that according to my friend the AGM is the one typically in charge of the minor leagues and the GM is in charge of the majors.....is this typically true?

Generally. Thought it varies based on the backgrounds and skill-set of the two people.

I found it interesting, my friend whose brother is AGM of Oakland and why its ok he lives in Scottsdale. Basically he has very little to do with the major league team especially during season.

Yeah, that's how it was when I was in LA as well.

AGM was responsible for the draft signings in partnership with the Scouting Director and that team. GM was largely responsible for improving the big league club, which is a totally separate job.

There is just no possible way for the GM to have the bandwidth for both as it pertains to how many decisions are being made.
 
Is Valera actually likely to stick in CF?
 
Looking at the Fangraphs rankings, it looks like they technically only have their prospects ranked numerically through 114

From there, it looks like they are mostly just clustered by team by their FV prospect score.

Yeah, his ERA is in the 5's but his FIP (3.33) and xFIP (3.42) are pretty much in line with Hankins while he was in MV.

These lists value ceiling over all- so a highly talented but raw Valera will always rank higher than a polished, Kipnis type w/o the power guy like Freeman.

You would think they would learn by now not to discount the development of power from young guys with great hand eye coordination and contact skills. Freeman checks off all the boxes except for power, and he's just 20 years old.
