Since Sexton shot 40% from 3 on 4.1 attempts per game in his rookie season in the NBA, I think people should be very careful about tinkering with his form -- whatever it is, it seems to be working.

As for measuring how good a player is by looking at shooting, it's not the result of nothingness, it's because there is a shot on the court that gives 50% more points than any other shot, which has significantly unbalanced the game, and people are rightly very concerned with how good a player is at that shot.

Also, the main things that get left out when you look at just shooting are 1) passing/playmaking, and 2) defense. Since I think it's pretty clear that Sexton is at best a work in progress in both of those areas, if not actively bad, there is going to be a lot of focus on his shooting.

It's not about just Sexton.

It's all the content we have. Assessing defense or playmaking improvement is impossible in the offseason.

I think the muscle he put on, and maybe some more advanced footwork is all you can take from that Video

Touch on his hook shot!

Yeah it's cool, and probably something that will help him. I was impressed by his finishing and touch n those short floaters later in the year. He definitely needs to keep the defense guessing on how he is going to finish.

We all know these things they work on during the summer don't automatically translate. I think Sexton is going to be hard to stop with the way he abandons the stuff that doesn't work and doubles down on the things that do. His ability to change his habits is his best feature

I think you two are too critical of his form. I think it looks fine other than him crossing his legs, but does it really matter, and is it really fixable? I think he naturally has knock knees. Honestly, I think it's much improved and his touch too.
Valgus knees are bad and predispose one to injury

While I agree with what you are saying there a two aspects to a shooting motion. Accuracy and ability to get the shot off. His motion is so
In a vacuum sure. But in Sexton's case I don't believe so because he has such a strong core and strong legs. I think he is well balanced in that regard.
Yeah kd and others do it and their knees have been fine. As long as the pelvis range of motion and strength can handle it then it's not a problem

It's a copy error from a previous post. Soz fat thumbs in a rush

Yeah people make shots they shoudln't based on their form, and then there are guys like Hood and CJ Miles who have a "great looking stroke" while not really hitting as high a percentage as you think. If he can maintain his efficiency, his stroke is no big deal. Too much left hand, but it goes in.

I loved CJ Miles, wish we kept him around for the 2nd LeBron Era.

I strongly believe Sexton is going to show clear improvements on the defensive end. Of course, it will be hard to be WORSE than he was last year, lol. I don't see evidence he can ever turn into a Beverley-esque bulldog but from a physical standpoint I don't see a reason why a kid with his work ethic and commitment can't at least turn into an average defender.

If his focus is there as you say. We have no reason to doubt his ability to improve.

Maybe guarding two guards more often will actually help out his team defensive impact? I posted earlier about how there isn't this large size discrepancy between Sexton and Beal. Point guards most of the time are the very best offensive player on the floor and not guarding that guy could help alleviate his defensive ineptness.

Of course we are going to have a rookie that is just as bad lol. I'm going into this season knowing our defense will be hot garbage. I'm really hoping to see a much better offense and seeing sexton improve individually.

Sexton's acne is much worse this year. Is this a sign that he is on PED's?
