The Jarvis Landry Thread: Bless 'Em

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Because they’re arguing against historical data with a four game sample, I don’t think you head into that expecting a rational retort.

That’s rich. Considering everyone wanted to tear him down for a down season in a multi-pro-bowl earning career.

Do you ever give credit to anyone? People railing on Jarvis are.... just wrong.

You have quite the sensitive touch for what you think “railing” on someone is.

ive never suggested anything his career metrics didn’t suggest.

I’d expect a healthy Higgins to be very well used, and OBJ is obviously just way better.

Not every rational criticism of his historical stats is a personal affront, love Jarvis here and love the short area quickness he brings.

Yeah, but it’s clearly an affront to claim, somehow, that Higgins is better. What metrics do you need to pull to frame that argument? None I’ve seen make it look that way, so it takes bias to pull a set of metrics that would conclude this.

This inefficient, bad YAC stuff is just... wrong.

A young player that was getting targeted at a similar clip to Landry down the stretch, and appeared poised to continue climbing this pre-season before getting hurt.

Seems pretty reasonable to me.

20 yards per reception? That almost sounds like a...

deep threat

:chuckle:

Pretty sure most of it was YAC. I feel like most of his yards against Baltimore were after the catch.

Either way, as AZ is saying it's such a small sample size that it's hard to make much out of it.

Sounds more like we can expect a

Regression to the mean

Lol herp derp

It was a joke.

I just think it's funny people on both sides are so sensitive about this topic.

Jarvis is 3rd in YAC this season, and his aDot regressed to 6.0 on Sunday.

Not surprising that keeping him short resulted in his best game of the year.

So I’m all for disingenuous trolling about “he’s a deep threat lolz,” but the reality is that Landry is at his best as a short yardage target and allowing him to use that SAQ to break tackles and spring some.

Let’s please, please not die on this hill of silly recollections and false victimhood about how folks were aggrieved because someone cited the obvious.

I think it’s been mostly dropped by the anti Jarvis side and the Jarvis truthers wait for his first good game of the season to scream from the mountaintops at just how wrong everyone else was and always has been

I hated the trade, thought he was overrated fantasy footballer, saw that I thought too lowly of him when he played last year, changed my stance on the trade and settled around he’s a decent #2, elite slot, and should never ever be a 1. I’m just tired of the dick swinging for a guy who has averaged 65 yards a game for us and people claiming he’s this absurd deep threat any time he catches one pass over 20 yards.

He has had a couple of long receptions, he wont keep his 20 per average, it will come back down. But this is proof of how a receiver of OBJ's quality effects everyone on the offense. Cant pay to much attention to Jarvis when you have OBJ to worry about.

It still just doesn't make any sense to me how this trait, or his game, translates to not very good because of this trait. That's been one of the arguments against him on this board; his shorter routes being deemed not good enough. I'm happy to ridicule people with that opinion.
