2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'll wait until Drew Brees comes back and their defense plays with some consistency. Neither of those things have happened so I don't trust them.

The Packers have Aaron Rodgers, a legitimate running game, a legitimate defense.

LOL they just gave up 500 yards today, to a team you declared as frauds.

re: The League.

I think the Browns in theory have a chance against anyone but..that's the position they put themselves in. That's the "key"

There's variables such as coaching, timing and all of that stuff.

Much like the Cavs. They were in a position to net themselves title(s). However...shit happens. You got one under the most unusual circumstances I've ever seen as a sports fan.

You're reading box scores. If you watch the game you'll see the Packers defense did what they wanted that game. Their issue coming into the game was their run defense and they held Zeke to 60 yards. They forced 4 turnovers and they did that while they were banged up in the secondary on the road.

Get out of the stat sheets. Jared Goff threw for over 500 yards in a home loss and still looked like shit.

I believe the variable you are looking for is injuries.

Um, no Dak threw for over 400 yards on 10 yards per completion. That’s excellent.

Goff threw for over 500 yards with 68 pass attempts for 7.6 yards per completion which is average.

Cowboys turning the ball over was the clear difference.

BTW I didn’t say the Packers defense sucks. I think it’s improved and would call them good. Calling them legitimate is a stretch at this point.

Cowboys can’t be frauds and the Packers defense is legitimate. It just doesn’t add up.

When that team had over 500 yards today. And they did it efficiently. The only takeaway was the turnovers.

So if Aaron Rodgers hasn't been playing great how are they winning games Pythagoras? Preston Smith, Za'Darious Smith, Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Darnell Savage. Their defense has been making plays all season.

It feels like the NFL is in the midst of a changing of the guard moment right now.

Before I even remotely get ahead of myself?

New England is still New England. Until Brady is giving a tearful presser saying he's "done"? They're probably odds on favorite for the Super Bowl.

This being said? The NFL feels radically different with Andrew Luck being retired, Pittsburgh no longer having 7, and qb's like Watson, Mahomes, etc making headlines.

Even with the red, bolded, underlined text? It's not a question of "if" but rather "when" they're going to be done and even more of the vaccuum opens up. I mean what becomes of the AFC East at that point? The Bills are 4-1. Could we be seeing them pop up in the playoffs more often?

Was hoping the Chiefs would win, considering it's essentially a lock they & New England are the top two seeds.

Colts will be a team in the wild card hunt/competing for seeding. We want those teams to lose.

Yep, we did.

I still just do not understand how Trubisky received a first round grade. Outside of being athletic and accurate, he played in a gimmicky offense, had poor footwork, a weak arm, and was inconsistent at decision-making. If you drafted him you were banking on his accuracy being the product of actual talent and not limited starting experience in an easy offense.

Mahomes had a cannon and was very athletic, Watson was an outstanding prospect that checked a lot of boxes from the analytics community, and there were a ton of great non-QB prospects in that draft. Just a dumb draft choice.

I work at UNC and go to a lot of games. I saw Trubisky live plenty of times, but the one that sticks out to me is when he looked completely mediocre against Duke. Duke couldn't care less about their football team and it's trash almost every year. He did next to nothing against them and they actually lost to freaking Duke. Him going that early has boggled my mind ever since that game.

Exactly, without that bogus roughing the passer penalty, they never tie the game in the first place. Total garbage. It is really tiring watching all these clean plays called penalties while other not so clean plays get constantly ignored.
Without 2 awful overturns, Steelers don’t force overtime

Jay Gruden is out in Washington.

I wonder how/if this affects Trent Williams’ availability and/or asking price, as they will surely try to gather assets and draft capital to make the job more attractive.

Reports are out there that say Gruden didn't want Haskins to be picked, which means that he and the front office were on very different pages in terms of team building, or the FO already knew Gruden's firing was imminent. Not sure if it actually changes anything now that it has actually happened. I do think they'd be pretty stupid to hold onto him. I don't think his value will increase after this year's trading deadline and he seems pretty adamant about never playing for the Redskins again.

He’s a premium talent at a premium position, but he’s getting older and is going to need a new contract. I think the Redskins’ ROI and leverage both decrease the longer he remains on the team in a holdout status.

Definitely on New England. I'm not so certain about the Chiefs. Their wins so far:

Jags - Minshew's first game coming in for an injured Foles
Raiders - Awful
Ravens - 5 point win. Ravens probably an 8-8 team.
Lions - Scored in the last 23 seconds to win the game. Lions look decent this year but we'll see how that plays out.

They still play Chargers (x2), Texans, Packers, Vikings, @Bears, @NE

Certainly not a cakewalk left for them. Their defense is awful, particularly the run D. The OL isn't very good either. They can put up a lot of points, but they face a number of top 10 defenses the rest of the year.

That being said, looking at the current conference standings it'd appear that the Texans will have the best shot of taking it from them. I can't see anyway the Bills manage to keep up their current pace.

Great points. Hell, even New England has played a cake schedule so far this season.

It's gonna be nice for the Browns playing these College teams in the 2nd half of the season while all the other playoff contenders are beating up on eachother.
