Lowe on this year's Cavaliers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree. I really like his podcasts, but I feel like he just isn't a very gifted writer.

Yeah I often feel like smtg is missing when reading his articles.

Pretty clear he isn't intimately familiar with the Cavs to begin the season. Always what happens with these league wide articles and such.

It's going to fun for our fan base to watch but from a nba league pass prospective our team won't be one that a random fan will tune into to watch a fun competitive game. This is just one of those weird rankings that doesn't mean much other than the people who pay for league pass and are a NBA superfan. Basically Zach Lowe says on his podcast that he rarely watches regular TV especially during the NBA season. He will go home after talking and writing about the NBA at work all day and relax by watching random NBA games on league pass. Like some of us will channel surf or go thru Netflix to find something to watch, Zach Lowe will go thru NBA games on league pass instead.

Yeah but the point of league pass is to watch teams not on Nationally televised games. The lakers should be really low on this list and so should all contenders. The league pass games of those teams will be against bottom feeders, and the high profile games won't appear on league pass.

Maybe his premise doesn't actually make sense? Charlotte is really going to be more fun to watch? I dunno. I honestly dgaf about national writers. They haven't even been able to get the Cleveland story right when the spotlight was on the Cavs. Not even mentioning Beilein or Garland seems negligent.

a delly team will never be that low unless the team needs good draft picks so they fake that delly has a long concussion

Literally had no idea who this guy was ?

Don’t disagree with what he said. But I think theyll be a fun team to watch for hardcore nba fans. A lot of young talent and potential. If Beilein can get them to play the right way or at least look like they have the ability to play the right way they’ll be a fun team to watch. But the iso hero ball potential on this team is very high.

plenty of fans will be loyal to a fault watching this team, but nobody else will be outside of
maybe a unemployed basketball junkie when playing against their team.
this is just bad tanking basketball so soon a rebuild that they cannot possibly be taken seriously outside of Cleveland. right now they are the Phoenix Suns of the past 3 years.

They'll have their moments. Garland should be fun to watch. Sexton can score. Love is still Love. KPJ is intriguing.

Basically, it's a re-run of last season, just with more young talent. We'll see expiring vets (Knight, TT, Clarkson, possibly Henson and Delly) getting peddled in exchange for vets with longer contracts + picks. We'll have guys missing sixteen games because of a hangnail, lest The Tank (TM) get sidetracked. We'll have a handful of games in which they'll overcome the odds and beat teams they have no business beating ... and many more games where the odds overcome them.

Put it this way: this probably won't be the season where Ben gets overwhelmed by all the new Cavs fans signing up on the site.

Lowe is arguably the best NBA writer around right now. Also, his league pass ratings take into consideration things like broadcasters, jerseys, court designs, etc. The Cavs also are going to suck, so I understand why he wouldn’t want to casually watch them instead of other teams.
All that being said, I think the Cavs will be more watchable than at least a handful of teams he has rated above them. Garland, Sexton, and Love will make for some entertaining games.

Why is Lowe suggesting Kevin Porter Jr is the difference maker on our team? Suggesting that if KPJ stays in the rotation this ranking could be foolish. I'm super high on KPJ and have been since before the draft. But he's raw and not really ready to be a impact player yet.

The only thing I can think of is he's inferring that if KPJ makes the rotation then KPJ must be playing at a near ROY level or something and therefore the Cavs should be better? It still doesn't make sense, both because KPJ should be in the rotation regardless and because, as we've unfortunately seen, having a ROY does not necessarily lead to wins.

Just a dumb thing to say, but you also have to remember these national writers have no incentive to write about the Cavs - no one cares except us.

Eh I think that was a pretty innocuous statement, just that if KPJ plays well and manages to stick in the rotation, we will be a lot more fun to watch. Regardless of wins he will have some highlight plays, if he's in the rotation.

Can't disagree too much with the rating though I'd argue we should be ahead of the likes of Washington and Charlotte.

Exactly. KPJ will have to beat out some vets to earn his time. Delly, Clarkson, Sexton, and Cedi will all slate ahead of him, Garland as well. If Porter is able to earn his minutes via a defensive presence he'll end up a very impactful player.

The factor for me that would make the Cavaliers really fun to watch would be seeing Zizic emerge as a consistent rotational level big man. We could then make some solid roster moves utilizing our gluttony of Forwards.

My bad...I didn't realize this was League Pass rankings...makes more sense in that context

Watching the Cletics game made me think we are in big trouble if we move on from TT and Love. Nance couldn't stop anyone at the rim.
