The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Apparently there was a scene in The Long Night where Nymeria, Ghost, and ~50 other wolves/direwolves run out of the woods and attack undead Viserieon that was cut.

Would make sense, as you'd think that whole subplot from the books where Nymeria is creating a massive pack of wolves would actually go somewhere.

The wolves always kind of looked like shit on the show, though, so I can see why they cut it.

Which means Bran was actually doing something.

They cut that out too, he was warging animals around winterfell.

They cut out 20 minutes of dialogue in the long night, the director wanted Jorah to die in the first 10 minutes and wanted more deaths, but Dumb and Dumber said no.

I rewatched the long night the other day and it seems like HBO has made it alot brighter at least on HBO go. All the CGI looks horrible in it. The dragons fight scene looks like a camera taking snap shots with a flash. It also ruined the sense of doom and how anything could come out of the darkness. I really liked it dark where it was almost like tunnel vision and hyper focused on the character they were following.

I know this thread is pretty much dead and buried, but I figured I'd share this. Took me a fair amount of time to make, but the one thing that we all can agree that was great in season eight was the soundtrack. I got in contact with Ramin Djawadi's GoT support team to get this okayed, and then put together my favorite soundtracks across all eight seasons and made graphics and shit for it. I'm a nerd, I know, especially since the video is over four hours long.

Here's timestamps for the songs too. I know, I put way too much effort into this for literally zero gain.

The music in this show was so damn good. I hope Djawadi comes back for the spinoffs.

Master of War. When the vocals kick in. Pretty sure it was Dany walking towards the throne. Fucking gets me every time. Chills.

White Walkers prequel with Naomi Watts canceled. The Targaryen One is a go. Logo is up. Called House of the Dragon.

That's disheartening. Was really looking forward to that one. How bad must the pilot have been to not move forward with a GoT property. Sheesh.

Yeah, pretty shocking. At least the other one looks full steam ahead.

I'll still watch of course, but I'm much less interested in Targaryen history. Histories up north interest me more... Especially since we got much less of it than we thought we would in GoT.

I read in one article HBO asked them to rework the pilot and some of the cast. My guess is that they knew after some of the process that the timeline they wanted for it wasn't going to work. The House of Dragons is going to have Miguel Sapochnik as the co-showrunner and he directed “Battle of the Bastards,” “Hardhome” and “The Long Night.". They know what they are getting with him and probably feel comfortable that him and whatever team he brings in will be able to keep a realistic schedule.

They probably want whatever GOT prequel to be ready sooner rather than later to build off the launch of HBO Max.

I’d probably have agreed before I read Fire and Blood. Sure we know the history but it will make for a great on screen story.

The other prequel... really had no clue what they were planning on doing with that, although I was very curious.

They weren’t going to be able to do that prequel about the first long night without retconning a bunch of stuff that went down in the show. None of it made any sense the way it went down and they didn’t want to open that can of worms.

It’s smart, but there goes the excuse for the people that said the prequel would make sense of everything. The last two seasons were just a disaster.

Well, we now know the White Walkers weren't actually important at all and had no motivation other than whatever drives any other generic bad guy. I'm not losing any sleep over that one.
