The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well, we now know the White Walkers weren't actually important at all and had no motivation other than whatever drives any other generic bad guy. I'm not losing any sleep over that one.
At least in the minds of Benioff and Weiss.

New interview confirmed suspicions they wanted to tone down the supernatural and magic shit. White Walker storyline may have been collateral damage hence the very generic ending.

That's what I'm thinking as well. No way they're that generic and pointless to George.

That's disheartening. Was really looking forward to that one. How bad must the pilot have been to not move forward with a GoT property. Sheesh.

I thought a storyline centering around the Old North would have been really interesting. Honestly have zero interest in watching House of Dragons or anything Targaeryen based like that. It's so recent historically that we all know how that stuff ends anyway.

Well, if you guys just wanted new information/reveals, maybe. I still think there is plenty we could learn in this series though. And the potential for fascinating drama we all loved from GoT is there in absolute spades.

Ultimately it probably won over cuz dragons.

It sounds like the series will chronicle Aegon's conquest, which I am totally fine with. It likely won't cover much we don't already know, but knowing what happened didn't make the first four seasons of Game of Thrones any worse.

What about anthology style. Each season covers a different part of the dynasty? The conquest season 1, down the line do the Dance of Dragons, etc

Some of the reports are saying that the pilot that was canceled was the one that George RR Martin co-wrote. I wonder if he was involved in the rewrites. Maybe he wasn't involved and HBO got a taste of what the writing would be like without him. Knowing that Martin couldn't be heavily involved might be the reason why they didn't move forward with it.

Listened to the Night King theme for the first time since the season.

Man is it good. But Man does it remind of how shitty the final season was.

George buddy. Let's go.

They killed all rewatch ability. Like I have no desire to watch earlier seasons just because how badly it fucking ended.

It was like they freed me from something. I really cared about it and then I didn't at all. Feels good.

Apparently someone has leaked the finale commentary that HBO kept from airing. The meme potential of this could be massive. I'll keep you guys posted.

So I haven't seen the leaked commentary yet. But I guess in thr DVDs Dave and Dan say the third big wtf moment was.....Bran as king.

So...take with that what you will.

Awesome though that if that's true they kept him out of an entire season. Excellent story telling...

Doing a re-read and man to me the definition of bittersweet is MAster Aemon lamenting that Daenerys is all alone and dying before he can get to her, clearly regretting that he left his family all those years ago. All the while his family was right there and he'll never get to know.
