just had a look his defensive rating is back out to 109, so I guess so. He is still net positive thanks to his offense.

Please watch Joe Vardon's question on 03:16 about Cedi.

Does anyone satisfied from Beilein's answers about him and his role?

Very satisfied.

He's putting Cedi in a position to succeed right now, and not asking him to do too much, which was not the case last season.

He even talked about allowing him to grow, and not putting him in a fixed role.

I agree. It doesn't sound like Beilein is down on Cedi at all. He also clearly does not feel Cedi is a finished product. He wants to put Cedi in positions where he can succeed and grow.

AC and Daugherty on the home opener broadcast both talked about how Cedi was a guy that needed confidence to grow. It seems to me that some of Beilein's limits are there to encourage they things he does well so his confidence can grow allowing his game to grow. Beilein has done a good job over the years of taking middle of the road recruits and winning with them, getting several of them into positions to play in the NBA. I'm not sure several of those guys would have been drafted if they had not played with Beilein. He seems to have a good sense for what a player can be that not everyone else can spot and he has a feeling for how to get them to grow into that player.

I'm going to be interested to see where Cedi is when the season is over. Barring injury, I expect we will see a lot of progress in several aspects of his game, including on defense.

What Beilein is saying makes perfect sense. The point of the offense is to take good shots. If Cedi isn't open or has space to drive then he needs to move the ball, same as every other player, in the hopes of finding a better shot. That is what he is doing - paying within the offense.

Their opponent each night will dictate what a lot of guys are doing and how many shots players will get. Love is the player the opposing teams most worry about for now which is why you saw Giannis guarding him on defense the entire MIL game. Love is also getting less shot attempts this year but averaging 5 assists per game which makes sense.

Love this season so far: 3 less shot attempts per game
Osman: 4.5 less shot attempts per game
Thompson: 7+ more shot attempts per game

If that's the role he will be given by Beilein, I don't think he should stay here for long time. Sexton has all the freedom to ruin all the plays while Cedi plays defense, pursue rebounds and wait in the corner.

10 points on 2/4 3 pointers (3/8 overall which isn't great but he only got two more shots after starting 3/6 overall, with a lot of time in between his last two shots) and 3 steals, with the second-highest +/- on the team (+7) which is really ,impressive since he played 37 minutes.
I'm not worried about the coaching staff as much as the fact that his teammates don't seem super interested in involving him.

I guess I'm not seeing why people want Cedi to get all these shots. He's not particularly good around the rim and is a below average ball handler.

I think it's too early in Cedi's developmental process to say he is a finished product. I think he needs to be given the extra opportunities while we have the chance to do so. As we get further out of the rebuild and start prioritizing winning, those opportunities to develop players will diminish.

Nights like tonight show how you need role players to be able to step up when others are having bad nights. Cedi might not be a 1st or 2nd option player but if they keep developing him, maybe some nights he can give the extra scoring we need to keep pace and win when others aren't playing their best.

I don’t understand the complaints about Cedi’s role

I don’t understand the complaints about Cedi’s role

The complaints about Cedi’s role are being lodged 90% of the time by fans of his from International play, most of them his Turkish fans.

While it’s great that they are passionate about Cedi and join us here, they often have a hard time not prioritizing their hopes for Cedi’s individual success over the long term success of the Cavs. They see anything less than the roles Cedi has on the Turkish international team as “him being misused” and they are Cedi fans above being Cavs fans or NBA fans.

It sounds harsh but it doesn’t take more than a cursory read through this thread and game threads especially to understand that it’s true.

I don't think that saying that maybe Cedi should get a couple of more shot/offensive opportunities if he starts the game off pretty hot and other teammates are struggling, is complaining about his role.
I also don't understand why players having superfans annoys people, especially mods. Like is it that hard to scroll past them, and or put them/me on your ignore list if they/I sully your RCF experience so much?
It just seems like calling them out publically is the wrong way to go about things, and will make them feel less welcome on the site, but maybe that's the goal idk.
