Still at .5 on the young season and averaged .6 last year. Also needs to be a better rebounder if he's playing SG. 18 3 2 with .5 steals ain't it. Scoring is there and not going away. But if he wants to be a legit starting SG down the line 20+ PPG 5 RPG 3 to 4 APG with 1+ SPG will be mandatory. If not his best role will be a microwave bench scorer ala Lou Williams. Although that's not a bad thing. I don't doubt his drive but I wonder if he can eventually be productive enough outside of scoring to be an effective starter on a lefit team.

Another 2 steal game for Sexton against Philly. Add that to a nice game with rebounds (5) and assists (4) and a good all around effort for him. Let's hope he starts a little streak of improving his overall floor game. Cleveland.com had an interesting article about pushing him to go through screens more. Hopefully that gets him in position to challenge players more on defense.

I hope so. And I'm not expecting that stat line this season just long term he needs to show me something to believe he can be more then a microwave scorer. He's definitely looking good right now. I've been a Sexton fan since day 1 but I know he has his issues.

Just finished the game. He should have had several more foul calls. He got hammered. There were 3 fouls one play none were called.

Great game. He should have had that 3 a second earlier. Clarkson blew it.

I think once Sexton gets seen a little more those fouls will start coming.

I thought the same thing. He surely got hammered number of times. As you mentioned, once Sexton gets seen a little more, he will get the calls. He is smart so I am sure he will get the refs call them eventually.

Really proud of Sexton and team today - wished we won but still great effort.

That one replay where he got clearly hit a minimum of two times...can coach's challenge be used on non-calls? That was some shit.

I don't get why out of bounds plays are critical enough to challenge while something that could've yielded actual points (hold and a chop to the arm) aren't deemed reviewable.

Excerpt from the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Cleveland is a young team, but one that is showing a lot of spunk early in the season. Under first-year coach John Beilein, recruited from the University of Michigan, the Cavs are playing with college-like enthusiasm.

They will make plenty of mistakes, but with a youthful backcourt of rookie Darius Garland and Sexton, a second-year player, the Cavs have a foundation to at least move forward.

Sexton plays with the confidence as if he is the best player on the court and for several stretches he was.

I think fouls are like pass interference calls in the NFL. They are so subjective and in a grey area that even on replays the refs won't change their call.

One thing I really enjoyed from him was in last night's game, dude looked like he teleported to his man on defense.

It would ruin gameplay. I think that's the issue. Let's say Sexton is hit, no call, and the Suns get the rebound and move down court. The league can't have coaches using challenges to stop the gameplay.

But let's say they can challenge at the next dead ball or made basket. So the Suns score. The Cavs challenge and there will be a one minute review. Then Sexton will march down to the Cavs FT line to shoot. Then it's still Cavs ball. I just think it gets really messy with no-calls.

With out of bounds, seeing if they got a shot off on time, clear path, etc - it's already a dead ball, so you can review it on the spot.

I think people here arent getting what a great choice sexton was. Cant wait to see him in two years

^Exactly. Considering most #8 picks are busts I would say Altman hit it out of the park with the Sexton pick. Dude is just competing on both ends. It's obvious he's putting in a ton of work to improve too.

Even those things that are still problems like playmaking are getting better. You can point to his reduced assists, but he had 4 last night and several more that were missed 3's(no one hit 3's last night on either team). 2 steals. I think he is really getting into the system and it is working for him.

It's just cool to see the young guy that attacks even in a slugfest like this. He really got roughed up and he just kept attacking and putting his body on the line.

There was an Embiid rebound in the last 2 minutes where it was a scramble and Collin was blocking out Embiid. I thought he did a great job and then Embiid tossed him like a rag doll out of the way. It was egregious. I dunno. I think the Sixers are too careless and rough. They foul a lot and really hard. I like Embiid, but he is definitely going to hurt someone.

Pretty sure he already has, at least I think i remember discussion about it last year, or maybe it was just me thinking it. Dude throws his body around with wreckless abandon often at players knees/ankles.
