2020 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So one scout just compared obi Toppin to a young Amare ? Future Obi Safari?
Plays for my alma mater and he has almost singlehandedly taken this UD team from a solid A-10 squad to a team that is really going to compete in the tournament.

Kid is a star and an unreal teammate... Think Amaré but capable of shooting threes. He should be a top 10 pick - and his stock is rising by the day.

Edwards is the best player as a freshman on a bad team and literally every game plan is designed to try and stop him.

Izzo is one of the best coaches in America. He was throwing everything he could at Edwards in the 2nd half to slow him down.

He ends with 37 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. Oh and 7/16 from 3 with a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.

But please, tell me again why he’s not the #1 pick.

Fine, I'll take my lumps. He made as many 3's in the second half as he had made in the whole season to that point. If he's shooting mid-30's from 3 on high volume by the end of the season, I'll probably have him #1 on my board. But he's been awfully streaky so far, and he really relies on that 3-point shot in the halfcourt.

UD! Good to see some fellow flyers on the board... kudos to @LackOfSkill who had him as a player to watch a few pages back before his coming out party in the Maui Invitational (unless he’s also a Flyer and followed him last year). I think you’re dead on that he’s put himself in a position to get high lottery chatter particularly now that he’s hitting the 3 at a higher volume if he can sustain it.

Not a Flyer, but watched him a fair bit last year. They’ve got a fun squad this year.

Yeah I share some concerns about his half court abilities. He should really be a better penetrator/finisher with the tools he has and that great first step. But I think it will get much better as he matures and is taught by good coaches how to utilize his tools and form his game. He shows the signs and I think that's enough to keep him a really high tier prospect. But yeah he needs that consistent shot.

Great game to show his awesome mental makeup though. He's an absolutely competitor, I love those guys.

Hopefully, yeah. I do really appreciate that he never gave up even when they were down 20 to a much better team. Concerned that he's shooting just 42% inside the arc, with 4 offensive rebounds total in 6 games. Looking at highlights and reading scouting reports before the season, i thought he would dominate in those areas. On the other hand, I never imagined he'd have games where he'd go 7/16 from 3. Even Trae Young only managed 16 3-point attempts twice in 32 college games. So I guess I'm confused more than anything, which makes sense because I haven't been following as closely as I was last year

Looking forward to watching Haliburton in half an hour. He's one of my favorite upperclassmen, leading D1 in assists and steals so far with 10.2 and 3.5 respectively. Unusual profile, but could be a very good fit next to Sexton or Garland in the backcourt.

Came to post the ringer article about him

He's the ultimate glue guy.

Yup. Interesting to see how he does this season when he's asked to be more of a scorer, like he was today. Haliburton and Wesson had the most promising statistical profiles out of all guys who chose not to declare last year, and I wouldn't be surprised if they both end up in the lottery this year.

Anyone else on the Zeke Nnaji bandwagon yet? I think he's easily a lottery pick, if not more. Could be the top big in the draft if he keeps this up.

Toppin playing very well against quality teams..

I like the improved lighter faster Kaleb Wesson, but Dukes center is bigger faster and more skilled as a freshman

I still believe there will be a freshman or sophomore big emerge to be in the top draft discussion. I think we should learn something from this number last draft, which is to pick guys that are physically ready to play, a la Porter. Centers should be 250 in shape minimum, Wings 6'6 230, 6'7 225 minimum, and have range..

I know Carey's made a couple 3's, but is he realistically on the same level as Wesson as a shooter? That's such an important skill these days, both the ability to step out and hit 3's, and the ability to knock down free throws when you go to the line. Wesson really shines in those areas for a player his size.

Disappointed in Jalen Smith. Thought he was a fun sleeper at the start of his freshman year, but he hasn't really expanded his game offensively. Great physical tools.
