2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If he was on any other team, he isn’t having this same success.

I still would not swap Lamar for Baker. Given the respective cultures of each franchise Baker Mayfield is exactly what the Cleveland Browns needed. If Lamar lands in Cleveland in April 2018 he's now Josh Rosen.

I salute Jackson's ability to make himself a better pure passer. Coupled with his insane physical gifts and grasp of and comfort with his offense he's a lot of fun to watch. He can almost certainly win multiple playoff games this year. What we haven't seen this year is him taking part in (and winning) a real shootout, consistently hitting a deep ball on the outside, playing hurry-up while behind in the score.

Next weekend is an acid test for Baltimore. Let's see if Lamar Jackson can make plays against the 49ers where few others could. Should be instructive.

You guys remember when Jared Goff was proclaimed as elite? :chuckle:

Dude, if you want to shit on people for takes that look bad, then we will be forced to bring up your Saquon Barkley takes when you called him the best player in the draft.

Because let me tell you, Barkley kinda sucks now.

The Lamar gushing has reached a nauseating level - like, it's approaching ESPN-Steph Curry 2016 level...

He offered his seat to a guy with a ruptured ACL? Um, ok? Do you know how often stuff like this probably happens and it goes unreported?

Have at it my dude.

Doesn’t bother me one bit when something I said was wrong as shit. I’ve repeatedly held on to the fact that I thought Tyler Bray was the second coming of Tom Brady at one point.

The whole thing sucks on multiple levels.

First off, to have dismissed Lamar Jackson is rather stupid. It's not to say that there -aren't- weaknesses in his game (there are and we've seen them) but a good enough coach can maximize his other skills while not placing him in situations where his weaknesses are exposed.

John Harbaugh is indeed that coach.

Next level? The entire thing we're going to be seeing (and have already seen) are people going "THE BROWNS COULD HAVE HAD HIM AT 1" while ignoring the context of both situations and the fact that yes, even Baltimore passed on him in favor of a tight end.

Final level?

Baltimore.
An obnoxious annoying fanbase and a division rival has their franchise QB set. Kinda makes things for us all the more difficult to swallow. Team could very well be in the Super Bowl this year. They have a coach and talent that can get them there. With an aging New England? There's really not gatekeeping them. All it would take to ensure it would be for a hot hand and a run.

Greg Roman is the key coach who has that offense humming the way it is, not Harbaugh.

It would be very interesting to see Roman get his chance elsewhere as a head coach this offseason and what impact that has on the Ravens offense.

Lamar is playing great, but their success right now is also very much attributed to scheme. Eric Weddle was quoted after MNF saying, “half the time we didn’t even know who had the ball”.

I’d like to see Roman get hired away this offseason, and hopefully the Ravens take a Rams-esque step backwards next year.

Philadelphia needs to be careful not to turn Carson Wentz into Andrew Luck 2.0.

Multiple injurues, few weapons, line isn't good.

Eagles beat the odds, won a Super Bowl against a Cheatriots team that IIRC, did not punt. And afterward, they let go of the wrong people.
They've not been right since, injuries or otherwise. This offseason will tell the tale of how serious they are about doing it again. Certain NFC powers are solidifying, and if I'm biased against anything... the frikken Giants will eventually emerge out of the Post-Eli era. They are the "Steelers" of the division

The Weddle line about not knowing who had the ball is the key to a great deal of the Ravens potency, notwithstanding the sheer electricity of Lamar Jackson. Baltimore does this incredibly well. If anything they're even more dangerous with Gus Edwards alongside Jackson than with Mark Ingram.

Forcing America to watch the Lions every Thanksgiving is the equivalent of forcing your family to eat sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top every year. Aside from the Barry Sanders years, it's an abysmal tradition of torture that makes you despise the holiday.

I'm a Lions fan because of Thanksgiving. I still love and hate Barry Sanders to this very day.

I think Urban is gonna end up coaching the Cowboys sooner rather than later.

Barry Sanders was must watch television. Before and afterwards, the Lions have been rough.
