Kluber Traded to Rangers

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right -- but your point was that Reyes was one of the players cited as a reason for not needing RH hitting, when he wasn't on the team at that time.

But I agree that getting a young power arm for Kluber isn't the worst thing (though like most fans, I was underwhelmed by the overall return -- Delino Deshields Jr.'s main claim to fame is that his dad is Delino Deshields Sr.). Clase, Karinchak, and Hand should be the nucleus of a fire-breathing pen this season.

Yeah, I flipped Mercado and Reyes. Fingers moving faster than the old grey matter between my ears.

What I'm being polite about is that some people will complain no matter what happens, even if half of the front offices have pivoted to emulating the Indians model put in place in the early 2000s. Move your aging All Star pitcher for younger arms, watch the young arms become All Stars.

Former Cy Young winner.

You don’t get bonus points for how good he used to be, no matter how much kicking and screaming you do.

Maybe Kluber bounces back, but with how many innings he’s thrown, odds aren’t really on his side.
I hope your boss doesn't feel the same you do or you will be gone.

Wait, so every team that wins 90 games isn’t guaranteed to reach or win the World Series?

We won 93 games last year with Kluber only pitching in 7 games total. We’ve added a potential dynamo back end of the bullpen arm for this season and years to come. Since overworking Hand was part of the issue last year, that’s a good thing.

Obviously we will not go in to the season as favorites to reach the World Series but the overall roster construction should once again be one the has a shot to make the playoffs and depending on health, development, and any midsession roster tweaks could have a small shot of going all the way.

That’s not a bad lot to be in(especially with a talent rich wave of prospects a few years off) and far from the “woe is us” that permeates the board at most times during a 7 year run where only three other teams have also had winning seasons 7 years straight
You got it right POTENTIAL that you gave away a two time Cy Young award winner for. You guys do know that Major League hitters can hit 100 mph pitches.

Let's see what the Indians do with that extra 14 million. I'm not holding any expectations. I'll probably come along to liking the backend arm for the Klubot, but we still traded the Klubot. If he Klubots for even 2 more years then it's a loss.

Just like Kluber has the POTENTIAL to bounce back after injury and a pretty clear statistical regression.

So Clev, Bieber, Cookie, Civale and Plesac?

Allen and Rodriguez as depth?

-Love Kluber, sad to see him go
-his Cy Young awards are past performance.
-Kluber himself was once a player with potential. And not even a highly regarded, top of the draft pedigree at that. He was essentially given up on by the St Louis Cardinals.
-Kluber missed 80% of the season last year with an injury. That coupled with some downward velocity trend and age brought his value to a different place. This was not auctioning for a healthy player the season right after a Cy Young performance.

I don’t like the guy, but you have to respect his info and knowledge so I think you are messing with the wrong guy and the noob could get fired if not careful.

I get it’s an underwhelming trade, but you don’t make your major league debut at 21 with just a big arm alone. From what other posters have said is that Clase has really put up his rankings in scouts eyes and honestly we badly needed a power arm like him in the bullpen. We have a ton of arm talent coming up right now all about the same age. If he pans out then we have a crew of bullpen arms under control for years to come that could become the scariest bullpen in the pros.
