2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Luke Kuechly retiring at 28.

Seems to be a more common theme lately - players retiring in their primes while they still have (relatively) good health.

Still need to hear the reasoning, of course, but it goes without saying that that's a huge blow to that defense.

Hasn't he had a ton of concussions?

Right. Probably wants to mitigate the risk of becoming a vegetable or becoming another casualty of CTE.

Can't fault him for it at all. Football is a brutal sport, even with all they've done to try and make the game safer.

I saw him play the Redskins two seasons ago. He called out every one of the Redskns' plays. I've never seen anything like it. He is a legend.

This is definitely reason enough to be pissed off at any front office that suggests a rebuild which requires tanking for multiple seasons in the NFL.

No. Guess I meant I could see him retiring early, but not due to injuries. Just based on his personality.

Whatever. I’ll shut up now :chuckle:

Elite players don't just retire in their prime for no reason when they can still make millions. I can't see Garrett doing something like this unless his body starts to break down on him like Luck's did or he's seriously worried about his future due to multiple head injuries like Kuechly must be.

Or if they get secretly suspended for gambling like Jordan.
