2019-2020 Cavaliers fantasy trade thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Cavs apparently have an interest in Andre Drummond. Drummond has 2 years left on his contract. He could be the big man we need after TT walks, or is traded.
We would need to give some expiring contracts like Knight and maybe Delly. But maybe this is where we move Sexton.

He has a player option he doesn't have 2 years left on his deal. He didn't want to play for the Cavaliers when he was in the draft. Zero reason for us to trade anything for him.

Would Utah entertain a Love for Conley + first swap + young piece? Conley doesnt fit with them and Love would be great next to a player like Gobert imo. Can also turn Bogdanovich into a 6th man.

Honestly, I think Conley is just about done. He's looked terrible all season. And not just because of the nagging hamstring. His shot has been beyond awful. I think all the injuries are catching up to him.

I’ve seen Aaron Gordon for Sexton on twitter, not the biggest AG fan but it kinda makes sense for both teams. Magic can hide sextons defense a lot better than us and we could use a plus defender that allows Cedi to never play PF. We’d need to draft a skilled C though

I'd honestly rather have a 1st round pick than Aaron Gordon. If the aim is to trade Sexton and build around Garland, that's fine.....but Gordon is an incredibly average NBA player. Maybe better than average but wildly inconsistent.

This is his 6th NBA season and he's honestly not any better than he was in his 3rd. He's really plateaued as a player and at this point, it's difficult to expect him to be much better.

Really think with better coaching and a more defined role Gordon can develop further. Spurs apparently love him. If he went to SA I could see him taking off. Coming to Cleveland not so much.

I guess......but he's 4-5 years older than Garland. If the purpose of moving Sexton is to build around Garland, I'd just rather do that with someone who will hit is prime at a similar time or at least have significant overlap. I'd also just rather do it with someone at the start of their rookie scale deal...from a cap and team control perspective. But maybe I'm in the minority with that thinking.

I literally said he wouldn't be a good fit for Cleveland... I said he would be a good fit with SA.

Trade idea: Cavs get the #1 pick in the draft and trade Darius Garland and the #1 pick for John Wall and Bradley Beal.

Why each team does it.

Wiz: Good young pg in Garland who just needs more minutes to become a great player. Two potential top five picks to restart their rebuild (one from Cavs) and blow up a team that could never get over the hump. Obviously they're the team that wouldn't do this trade. But, I think they should definitely consider. Beal only has one more year as well.

Cavs: Re-sign bigs TT and Drummond. Sexton can be dominant sixth man and learn from Wall. Lineup: 1. Wall 2. Beal 3. Osman/Windler/KPJ 4. Love 5. TT/Drummond. This is a top four seed in the east and if we can sign an above avg SF it could be a title contending team.

1) There's no financial way to make that trade happen without including Drummond and Love. Literally none.

2) There is absolutely 0 chance that John Wall is even 75% of the player he was. There's been like 1 player ever that came back to be an all star after an achilles injury. One. And that was 30 years ago.

3) Why would anyone want to be the 2015-2018 Wizards?

If you're trading Garland and #1 there's no way we're taking back a bad contract or some washed up superstar.

I like where your head is at, but the Cavs would almost certainly need to include Drummond and Love in order to match salaries

I realize it's just one writer's opinion,, but this guy lists John Wall as the most untradeable player in the NBA.

Beal's current contract also is an overpay because of his poor defense.

I can't get this trade to work on a trade machine because of a current PPP (Simmons) and an unresolved PO (Drummond), but something along the lines of:

Philadelphia receives:
Darius Garland
Kevin Love
Andre Drummond
2020 Cleveland 1st round pick
2022 Cleveland 1st round pick (top 8 protected)

Cleveland receives:
Ben Simmons
Al Horford

- I think Simmons would be a perfect fit with Sexton bringing playmaking and defense that this team sorely lacks.

- Horford has lost a step, but he was also stuck playing most of his minutes at the 4 last year, but he could slide into the center spot here as his career winds down.

- Love would be a better fit next to Embiid than Horford and they have the same years left on their contracts.

- Drummond is an odd fit in Philly, but necessary to make salaries match (I think) and he'll be an expiring contract for them. They could use him to keep Embiid fresh throughout the year, and maybe they could even occasionally play alongside each other.

We could roll out next year:
Collin Sexton
Kevin Porter Jr.
Ben Simmons
Larry Nance Jr.
Al Horford

I could see that being a quality lineup, putting us in a good place moving forward.

I like the player movement. I just worry that we'd still be too far away to be giving up 2 of our next 3 first round picks. The 2021 draft is likely to be very good, but this trade would actually lower the value of our pick in that draft. Is Simmons -- who has great skills but is also flawed - really worth two first round picks, plus a diminished draft position in the 2021 draft?
