The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Just uninstalled Outer Worlds. I was about two hours in, and just never picked it back up.

Still about halfway through the Phoenix Wright trilogy. Haven't picked it back up in about a month.

Actively playing Fallen Order. Working my way through Zeffo for the second time.

Playing a bit of Smash Bros. Brawl occasionally.

Really want to finish Fallen Order and Phoenix Wright, then move on to Disco Elysium.

Dota's still my vice. It's incredible that I've been playing one game for 15 years at this point... and scary to imagine how many hours I've spent with it.

Escape from Tarkov is one of the most addicting games I’ve ever played....

So much depth to this fuckin game it’s almost overwhelming.

So I finally decided to go back and beat God of War since I played it for five to ten hours a year ago (got to Alfheim) but then got distracted by other games and never went back because I knew I'd have to start it over since I didn't remember what the fuck was going on or how the controls work. Over Christmas I re-started the game and am probably around the midway point and holy hell this game is awesome. It's gorgeous, fun to play, and is quite possibly the best Zelda-esque game I've played that wasn't actually a Zelda game.

The way they rebooted this franchise is so perfect. Really my only complaint is that it takes a good ten hours or so to really get going. It's fun before that, just slow. Also, there's a boss fight where you have to fight against two brothers that has a really annoying segment where you have to spin around and block as they attack you, but the camera moves so fucking slow that I got hit multiple times because I literally could not turn fast enough to block in time.

Looking forward to finishing this one. The story has been progressively getting better and more interesting with each passing hour, and there's a ton of quality side content to explore and more opens up with each new ability you unlock (hence the Zelda comparison).

Yo, Destiny 2 is really good.

Is it worth picking back up? I put it down sometime last year (I think it was during the Season of the Drifter) and haven't picked it back up since. I had a clan that I ran with just about every day, but a lot of us stopped playing.

Found a private server for an old MMO called Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

I used to play the shit out of this game. PVP focused MMO. Anyway, the private server is called Return to Reckoning and its free and there are a good solid number of people playing. Havinga lot of nostalgic fun.

I’m not a returning player but rather a new one so probably not the best person to ask. But I really enjoy it. So much to do, almost too much.

Sounds like an improvement on the first game where there were about three things to do over and over again while Peter Dinklage collected a check to phone in one of the worst performances of all time. I know they eventually replaced him with Nolan North, but I'd checked out by then.

From what I understand this game was garbo day 1 also. I think it got “fixed” around year 2 with the Forsaken expansion. And with Bungie now separating from Activision I think it has steadily improved also.

I spent a lot of time Beta Testing this game, large scale battle was so much fun when it wasn't a slideshow.

Finished the main story of God of War. What a fantastic game that was. Some nice twists at the end, and the cliffhanger when you go back home after the credits roll sets up the next game nicely. I love the new Norse setting, and can't wait to see where the sequel takes Kratos and son.

My only real complaint is that there just aren't many meaningful boss fights in this one. I mean, there are plenty of boss fights, but most of them are basically just reskins of the same troll or Valkyrie with slightly different attack patterns. This is especially true when compared to God of War 3 where you were pretty much constantly wrecking other gods or other massive bosses. This game does have some really awesome set piece moments, but I would have preferred a few more duels with other gods. Literally the first big fight in the game is against the Stranger and sadly there are only a couple of other fights like that one in the entire game.

Overall, though, God of War was one of the best games I've ever played. It's absolutely massive, looks incredible, is fun to play even if Kratos turns sluggishly, and has some interesting puzzles at times. All in all, they did a fantastic job of bringing the series back and updating it with more mature storytelling and giving Kratos some much-needed depth as a character.

Not sure I'm going to attempt to do a lot of the optional end-game content, though. I'm kind of burnt out after the journey. This game was not short, and I did do most of the side content outside of Niflheim and killing all the Valkyries. And Niflheim really only exists to gear you up for fighting the Valkyries anyway.

Next up is either Control or Death Stranding. My PC hard drive died recently, so I'm PS4 only until I get around to replacing it.

I had a lot of fun with the extra content. God of War is one of the few games I’ve actually gotten platinum on. Probably took about 30-40 hours of gameplay.

Haven’t played Control, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I beat Death Stranding, but it’s a slog. That being said, the acting, the atmosphere, and the music are all fantastic. Mads Mikkelsen in particular was phenomenal. My advice to you is to go ahead and power through the first two chapters, as the third is where the game starts to open up in terms of tempo and upgrades.

Well, didn't have any of the Witcher games, and wanted to play the highly-recommended Witcher 3. Of course, being a completionist type, that means I have to play the prior two games in the series first. And I'll just say that I fucking hate the combat controls for Witcher. Combat controls should be intuitive, and these are the opposite- at least on the PC.

Suppose I have to slog on ahead since I have all three games...but I just wish Dying Light 2 would come out so I'd have an excuse to skip these games....

The games get progressively better from a combat perspective with each installment. The first game is pretty much crap as far as combat goes. The second isn't great, but a marked improvement. The third is pretty good, although I'd highly recommend using a controller for at least the second and the third. Don't really remember how the first one controlled, just that it wasn't particularly fun but told a decent story.

Honestly, I'd probably just recommend watching recap vids of the first two games and then skipping straight to the third. The third is the one that put the series, and CD Projekt Red, on the map.

It's worth noting that the writing gets progressively better as well. The third game has some of the absolute best writing in video games. I think it's a combination of the developers getting more talented over time and also the translations getting better.
