The greatest living athlete in addition to the greatest baseball player of all time will be inducted into the Hall of Fame today.

Yay!

I know this is schtick, but where do people think Jeter actually ranks all-time among position players? Top 50, top 100?

Top ten at his position, likely top 100.

If Jeter had been willing to concede SS to A-Rod, where would he have played? 2B?

For what it's worth, he is ranked 47th among position players in career fWAR. There's a volume aspect to that since he played so many years, but part of his resume is certainly his longevity.

Longevity is what separates great players from hall of famers.

I have all the re2pect for Derek Jeter as a competitor and baseball player, he was by far the greatest Yankee SS ever.

I said that it adds to his resume, but it's also nuanced. I'd certainly value a player with the best 5-year peak as opposed to a guy who played longer and accumulated more stats.

Ex. Scott Rolen is criminally underrated and should be in the Hall of Fame. He was incredible 97-04, but was plagued by injuries until his retirement in 2012.

This is my way of saying I think Scott Rolen was better than Jeter. However, taking longevity into consideration, I'd put them even.

Makes sense since his GF list includes Mariah, Tyra, Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, Adriana Lima, Jessica Alba and a bunch of others.

Scott Rolen > Derek Jeter = Graig Nettles

Scott Rolen = Kurt Warner
Derek Jeter = Steve Young
Graig Nettles = Tony Romo? Dan Fouts? Jim Kelly?

Yes, this is all nonsense.
