Take that "this is good" spin to meatspin. Trying to re-create the wheel has been a fail. This organization isn't fooling me; they aren't revolutionizing dick.

The only people who have claimed that the Browns were trying to "revolutionize" anything or trying to recreate the wheel are those in the media who have a ridiculously false view of what analytics is and/or how much it's used throughout the NFL.

This process is, quite clearly, a joke. You don't need to sit on a treasure trove of information for days/weeks deliberating. If this is peoples' idea of strategy, it sucks & the NFL employment candidates aren't going to sit by idly while you plug your facts into your decision making framework.
I assume this is all because Jimmy doesn't want to give the GM more power than the homeless man in East Cleveland.

If you could point me to where the "this is good" spin is coming from, I'll happily do it.

Doesn't make your assertions that they are somehow trying to reinvent the wheel any more or less based in fact. You are just impatient and want to dump on them because they fired your boy. Admit it.

I care about them firing a GM who acquired talent as much as you care about them firing a GM that jettisoned it. :conf (11):

This slow, plodding process is failing. How soon until the guy behind door #3 "checks all the boxes"?

Any Browns person who produces those amateur podcasts about the Browns lauds this idea of letting folks leave the building in an industry where you lose a candidate when he leaves the building.

Yep, all that talent won us 13 games in 2 years and hired some of the worst coaches we've ever seen in Cleveland. Seems like a guy I'd love to keep around.

Hmm. Slow, plodding process.

You're aware that the Redskins and Panthers are currently operating with no/a lame duck GM? And that they won't hire one until after the draft most likely?

I don't see how anything about this is slow and plodding. Seems to me, hiring a guy on a whim would be a terrible decision. But, then again, I understand that you're biased no matter what happens in the process anyway.

Just to be clear, I think it's pretty bad they aren't getting George Paton. Sucks, actually. But, the 49ers hired John Lynch rather than George Paton and they seem to be doing ok. The Eagles, one of the best organizations in the NFL, are in love with Andrew Berry.

IDK. Maybe they lucked out here. Or maybe they didn't. Maybe it's all doomed from the start. To proclaim it some failed process is way too premature.

Fact is, until Haslam proves he's changed for more than a year or 2, people will continue to be somewhat skeptical

This is my first time being skeptical & shame on me for that. Done with the "maybe this is just how it was meant to go from the start" approach. This stinks to high heaven.

Still giggling at thinking the Justin Tuggle advocate could ever clean John Dorsey's Air Monarchs.

I meant people as in GM candidates/etc.. not people as in fans

To be fair, if we end up with Berry, he was literally the front runner for the job until a week ago when we got Paton to agree to an interview and not many people had much of an issue with it.
