I credit Mahomes.. his five for the first inspired the team to play with balls.. that is what pushed the game..

So as much I want to break down the actual football...

...can we all agree that was the best halftime show in years!?!?

I was at a Super Bowl party hosted by Browns fans in SF. We had fun. Them my wife let it slip that my celebrity crush happens to be Shakira.

I became the center of conversation for the halftime show, but I feel like everyone wanted to fuck Shakira by the end of her performance.

Prove me wrong.

Lot of bitching about the halftime show in my Quakerish town. Words like “pornographic”, “too sexual”, “sex talk” and things like that being bantered about.

The first thing I said when there was a gratuitous crotch shot during halftime was "Bruce Springsteen did a crotch shot like ten years ago in the Super Bowl and you all know it!"

Nobody cared when a 60 year old white guy was doing porn on national television... But two Latinas who work out do a crotch shot and the Fun Police come out.

Was watching the Springsteen half time show with a bunch of Springsteen fan friends, and they were very concerned about the condition of Brucey's balls in that moment.

Also, let us never forget Prince's contribution to the Super Bowl halftime show:

Mahomes has started for more than a year and shown everything you could ever want in a QB.

With far less talent around him, mind you.

The best part about Mahomes is that you don't need him to be the complete package in other areas because his arm is so elite. It's not as though the other stuff isn't average or better more often than not.

At some level, talent wins out. Go teach him the rest of the finer points, but he's going to be somewhere between Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers, I'll take that.

Trending toward the Rodgers end of the spectrum.

Mahomes definitely has some ARod in his game.

Natural arm strength on the move right or left, can dime it up on a flick.

Really needs to better understand footwork better, get a bit more bounce in his back foot. Definitely warming up to his skill-set after watching more of him today.

I absolutely think all of these points are valid, but I'd argue that offense in the NFL is becoming more and more specialized for young quarterbacks to find effectiveness given the right circumstances.

That said, the Browns as constructed do not present that. On this team, I'd be inclined to believe he's somewhere in the middle of the three-year development plan and the instant success of other QBs around the league.

Just really think Mahomes talent is undeniable, and I'd LOVE to see the work he's putting in to prep for the draft to see if it's putting him on a path to quicker success.

I think the perception out there is bad mechanics, but I think he's got a good mechanical base to build off. There are bad habits you'd like him to eliminate immediately, hopefully he's able to do that effectively to allow his focus to shift to other things.

I worked so I missed the game- why was a gif of Shakira flicking her tongue all ovr social media? Was that one of the controversial moments?

It was the moment the drugs hit her.

Because when Adam Levine and Maroon 5 take their shirts off and sing terrible music, nobody talks about it the next day. You get two attractive Latinas on national television doing essentially the same thing and all hell breaks loose.

I don't think it's because they were Latinas. I just think its a gender thing. No one cares if a dude does it but if it was any attractive women people would have been up in arms.

I wouldn't say everyone wanted to fuck Shakira by the end of the show, its been pretty well established most of the world has wanted to fuck Shakira for almost 20 years now.

I cruised through the comments in my feed criticizing the show. The selection of people are mostly western PA, because my friends in other areas of the country largely didn’t comment.

The bulk of them were from women. Of the women who posted most of them complained about it being “dirty”, “filthy”, “disgusting” or some other form of morally shameful. The women who used this specific wording were almost exclusively 50+.

The argument was typically some form of that it was bad for young girls to see, moral decay, and the specific problem was that they were dancing sexually and at one point J-Lo showed her cooch. There were also some arguments that if women want to pursue the “#metoo movement” and equal rights then this won’t help. They also pointed out it was a bad example for young girls and not appropriate for a family setting.

Women who approved of it felt that it was impressive that women of their age could do it and should be allowed to do so without any backlash. They felt that the cultural fusion aspect was a positive. They also pointed out that if Adam Levine could do it last year and women could slobber all over him then it would be hypocritical not be afford the same

Men generally either said nothing, said they liked it or reluctantly agreed that it probably wasn’t particularly good for young girls to see it because they wouldnt want their young daughters dressing and dancing that way.

I can see all of it. I don’t have a daughter yet, but if I did I wouldn’t want her to feeL obligated to dress or dance like that to obtain boy’s attention. That SB show would have forced me to answer some unplanned questions. I’d have been irritated in the same way I always am when a main character in an Xmas movie talks about how “Santa Claus isnt real” in every fucking show and movie and the plot becomes to re-prove it.

OTOH I have a sneaking suspicion we’ve got a lot of past their prime women who are unhappy with their bodies and are jealous of the attention these other women are getting...and are lashing out and seeking validation online. I noticed that some of the women defending the show were younger and in good shape and if not young, definitely in good shape. There were some exceptions and the exceptions almost exclusively commented that “If I looked like them I’d do it too.”

I think there was an element of cattiness on a grand scale with a “what about the children” used as a proxy to hide the insecurity.

By all means, I do worry about teenage girls and the pressure on them to look a certain way. Magazine models, Barbies and all kinds of other forces have always hurt that cause.

But the SB half time show? We never should have made these body parts dirty in the first place.

Levine has done some work.

He used to be a twig.

Americans are such prudes.

And we care far too much about what pearl-clutchers think.
