2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Like, he might be better than when he got hurt. that is fantastic.
At the time of the injury Porter was shooting 29.7% on 3's. Since coming back he's 7-for-13, or 53.8%. Small sample, but I'm wondering if he spent three weeks shooting 200 3-pointers a day waiting for his knee to be fullly ready.

Yeah looks more comfy from NBA distance. His attack of the rim seems better too.

His form has improved. Doesn't brign the ball nearly as much from his right side...it's more centered and has better arch as well.
Love his game to game improvements. Probably has the highest floor to ceiling ratio from out of the young guys with that dog mentality that you see from of other stars.
Keep it going Kevin!

Terrible defensive game from him tonight. But you could argue that as a team, the Cavs are one of the worst ever.

I am not going to go worst ever. You do remember that team before we got LJ, and the team we had the 1st time LJ left? This team is bad but not all time bad. Depending on what we do at the deadline, I don’t think we finish as one of the worst 1-2 teams in the league.

What this team is, is very young, so you have a lot of ups and downs. I still think we finish with more wins then last year.

You watched the 10-11 Cavs, right? Also, the 18-19 Cavs?
The 2017-18 Cavs were no defensive juggernaut in the regular season come to think of it. This is not a recent problem, though it is certainly amplified by having two small guards who still have little to no clue what they're doing out there. That could be masked if we had wings and bigs who were defensively capable. However, we have one plus defender on the roster in Tristan ... maybe Exum.

That's pretty much it. It's ugly.

Wake me up when he’s starting at SG and the midget brothers backcourt experiment ends

It might be a while. The progress Sexton is making as a passer and the scorer he already is, makes for a big jump Garland needs to make to catch up.

With the return they got for Clarkson and odd position they put themselves in with giving Garland the starting spot before he was ready. They really should have just bite the bullet and got rid of Clarkson before the season started so Garland could have came off the bench and developed that way. Porter probably would have been the starting SG now.

I didn't expect Porter to progress,so fast. I thought it would take the last 20 games for him to emerge. I've been very impressed by his progress.

I'm not so hard on Garland than most people but I do understand what they're say. I agree,Garland should have been on the bench, especially coming from an injury. It's obvious Garland is having issues adjusting to the NBA's long schedule.

Porter got burned multiple times on defense vs NYK by giving his guy way too much space around
the 3 point line. Opponent gets either a wide open look, room to dribble , or clear passing angles
to a teammate beating another Cav to the painted area.
