I agree Completely. And as good as his scoring potential is. I'm not sure if his offensive output will ever out weigh his defensive inefficiencies.
Do not agree. Garland plays soft. Sexton is faster more physical. Feel can be taught. I wonder what cosching effort is put in to teaching both guys defense. Should be one assistants main job

Just, the pairing of Garland and Sexton with the big pairing of Love and Sexton is the worst case scenario from a team defense perspective. Problem is we don’t really have anyone more suited for that either. We just don’t have defensive parts yet, but we’re also very early in our rebuild and those niche and specialist players have no use on a rebuilding team.
This is what I've been thinking, although I think you meant "the pairing of Garland and Sexton with the big pairing of Love and Thompson is the worst case scenario...".

If TT is traded and we see a pairing of Nance and Henson for more minutes then we should see the overall defensive numbers improve.

Looking at that defended FG% stat, they list 300 players who have appeared in 30 or more games. Love ranks 300th, last in the NBA as you pointed out. Garland ranks 292, Porter 290, McKinnie 285, Sexton 260, Cedi 250 and Nance 235. Nobody is even in the top half.

Neither the individual nor the team defense is worth a damn right now. Part of that is due to the youth and part is due to players who are limited physically like Love, who lacks quickness and jumping ability. Nance and McKinnie should rank higher, though. Beilein said recently that Porter is becoming a positive defender so I expect him to move up.

They held the Thunder to 109 last night so that's a start. They didn't have anybody who could control Schroder, unfortunately. He went off for 30 points and 6 assists.

Vultures are circling the Cavs trying to pick the best of the carcass of the team.

What team is going to trade the Cavs a player with Collins' talent? And a draft pick, even a first
would be an asinine return for one of the few Cavs who can actually create on the offensive end and
has a work ethic second to none.

Re: defense, Sexton is tied for, I believe, 50th in the league in steals. That's pretty good for a 2nd year player who just turned 21. With his quickness and work ethic I could see him improving on that number.

More to defense then steals. But he's sitting at 1.0 per game. That's not impressive at all. He gets beat consistently. His hope is that his offensive upside eventually outweighs his defensive inefficiencies.

Not quite sure that's a reliable source. Would be shocking if he's dealt.
I too would be somewhat shocked if he is dealt but Garland and Sexton doesn't work and will never work defensively. At some point they have to be
separated don't they? That said it would take a heckuva lot for me to trade him right now. A lightly protected first and a young big with upside.

Not sure how reliable they’re but I noticed Dan Gilbert follows that account...

The vultures know we have a weak GM. Can't believe Gilbert couldn't do better than this with his billions.

For those who wanted to see Shaqtin a Fool the other day, here he is @1:09. Have to admit the DDR editing was hilarious.

Other than that Sexton has improved massively as the season goes on. I find it amazing for a player to improve mid-season 2 years in a row. Looking forward on how he plays for the rest of the season as well as playing with a legit center like Drummond.

Sexton is improving. The court vision is coming little by little. I do think as time goes by the defense will improve. He has the speed to at least be avg on defense. An assistant should be working with he and garland on defensive positioning
