Noticed one of my least favorite arguments popping up on twitter after this announcement. People keep saying that player X is better than player Y because they have the same stats per 36 minutes but player Y gets too much praise because he plays 35 minutes a night while player X only plays 15-20 minutes. It’s such a bullshit argument. Sexton averages 20 ppg while playing a full game while some random guy averages 8 points in 15 minutes, those aren’t the same and there’s no guarantee that the other guy would put up 20 points a night given 20 more minutes.

I am really coming around to him as the PG of the future with Porter as his running mate.

Garland would have to take a QUANTUM LEAP of an improvement to put up Sexton's numbers.

At the rate he is improving, Sexton will be averaging seven assists a game sometime next year.

That leaves Garland consigned to the bench, 'cause that small backcourt ain't going to work, or, more likely as trade bait.

One can see Garland improving but let's face it, a Garland/Sexton backcourt will never work and the Cavs need to accept that and use Garland as piece in a trade for either draft purposes or to get a SF.

It's to the point that I wonder what account he uses on RCF to lurk. We criticize his game, suddenly he decides to turn it into a strength to prove us wrong.

4.4 assists per game in the first five games of February. Six more last night. That part of his game is showing significant improvement. He's up to 50% on 3's for February as well. He's making better decisions on when to launch a 3 and when to shoot or pass when he drives.

I don't see Sexton being more than a 5 assist game guy. Right now playing SG I get he is not getting as many assist opportunity, but he is a scoring sg. That said, you can construct a team around it just fine, make sure your sg is a good passer...like Porter, your sf is a good passer (I don't think cedi is a real starter) and have atleast one good passing big man like Drummond.

I too am coming around on Sexton, and who knows maybe he becomes a Lou Williams off the bench type of guy, which 17-20 pts off the bench is huge on a winning team.
