Sexton added quite a bit of muscle from last year, and I expect him to do the same for the next few years. He's such an unusual guy in terms of his work ethic that I could see him showing much more defensive improvement over time as he gets stronger and learns more.

His acne to muscle ratio is off the charts.
@I'mWithDan run some calculations.

Had some good passes that were not converted last night. Might have had 7 or 8 assists if Cedi had been hitting. His timing and rhythm on passes needs to improve on his passes but progress is good

They need to stop short-changing my man on the sample size.

Since Clarkson was traded 12/23:

25 GP, 22.4 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 3 APG, 1 SPG, 47.3% FG, 43.4% 3P, 89.6% FT, 52.4% eFG, 56.6% TS.

25 game sample size is over a quarter of the season. Those are scoring and scoring efficiency stats that if any other 2nd year guard at 20/21 was putting them up, the fans of his team damn sure aren't talking about trading him.

He should start as the point guard, his passing is improving. If you start him with KPJ and Cedi,,,they could initiate the offense as well especially Porter Jr. who has shown a great knack for passing and hitting guys that are open,,,man I'd love to see a Sexton/KPJ/Cedi/Love/Drummond starting five after the all star break.
I think it makes a lot of sense.

He can be frustrating at times but he really really works to improve. He came in last year and couldn’t do a damn thing, then by the end of last season he was a consistent, efficient scoring threat. He started this season where he left off last year, and has since developed reasonably decent passing. Hopefully by the end of this season he becomes a good passer and then next season works on his defense.

I will never understand the hate Sexton gets, especially when it's proven he's willing to work on his game.....

The biggest knock on him coming out of college was his three-point shooting. He's been pretty good in that department, so far,his two year career.

If,he could work on his vision between now and next season, it will be a big plus for the team.

Just to echo those sentiments, anyone who is as devoted to getting better as Sexton has been in his first two years will eventually become a useful NBA player. Factor in Sexton's legitimate athletic gifts on top of his work ethic (natural speed/quickness, instinctive feel for when to push the pace, burgeoning power for his small stature, etc) and I, too, remain puzzled by the abundance of hate he gets on social media by Cavs fans. I'm not talking about part-time Cavs fans that don't know anything, but legit followers who are otherwise reasonable.

I understand the advanced metrics are still extremely unkind to Collin and, no doubt, there is still quite a bit of growth required, specifically when it comes to general court awareness (getting better), reading the defense and knowing when to pass or when to attack and obviously the defensive shortcomings.

But, the guy is putting up damn near 25 points a game extremely efficiently since Clarkson was traded. You can call them empty calories or brush it off as "someone has to score the points on this team" ... that doesn't explain his efficiency and improving shot selection. Criticism is certainly warranted for Collin at times. He gets overzealous offensively and has a tendency to want it too bad. Give me that over a guy who is comparatively "good" according to the advnaced metrics but is coasting most games.

I will also note that my FSO TV channel went out last night and I was forced to find the game online and it was with the Hawks commentators. They were stunned by Sexton's competitive fire and how seemingly far his game has come since they saw him last. That and TT's incredible game took up most of their Cavs' related thoughts in the second half. Sometimes we get too far in our own bunker and it can be hard to see the forest for the trees.

Collin is getting better. He will continue that trend because the guy works his ass off. He is going to be a good player. I'm confident. How good? I don't think he'll be All-NBA or the like but certainly good enough to be one part of a core to a good team.

And he will deserve it too, when finally some Cavs fans are forced to reassess their brutal takes on Collin.

Yeah, but then the second unit would have Garland, Exum, McKinnie, Nance and Thompson on the floor and none of those guys can create their own shot. That's why Porter isn't starting - they need a scorer on the second unit like we had with Clarkson.

On another board somebody predicted Sexton would score 20,000 points in his career. It was pointed out that the only 6'1" player to accomplish that was Allen Iverson, who played in 901 games over 14 seasons and averaged 41.1 minutes per game. Sexton is averaging 31 minutes.

Everybody considers Iverson to be a great player and scoring 20,000 points is a rare achievement. Only 46 players have done it. For his career Iverson shot 42.5% from the field and 31.3% on 3's. Sexton so far is at 44.3% and 38.7% and trending up. At the age Sexton is now, having just turned 21, Iverson had yet to play an NBA game.

I mean, Garland can create his own shot, he just can’t actually make it.
