Collin or Lonzo?

A LA buddy sparked a weird argument saying Lonzo is better than all of the Cavs draft picks since Kyrie.

Obviously Collin is better than Zo. He tried pointing out defense, ok I point out Zo's D League shooting percentages and finishing ability. I also ignore individual defensive performances when the young player's team is trash.

Is he aware Cavs drafted Joe Harris? Joe Harris > Lonzo
also at this point in time Wiggins > Lonzo
technically TT came after Kyrie too so, TT > Lonzo

LA people are the most annoying bunch to debate basketball with. By far. Put Kuzma on the Hornets and his notoriety is 0. I even tried saying put Sexton on LA and he's SMoY. I hate that LeBron chose to go that route, but it's whatever at this point. Undeserving, bandwagoners get to watch greatness.

I think a lot of fan bases, possibly lakers between 2015-18 the most, fall into this 'young core' fad where you have a collection of young pieces that all grow together even though individually they may not be the elite of the elite and you end up overrating them as a collective. When in reality you draft (or for bigger market teams attack FA) until you have a top 10 player on your roster, because without one you aren't competing

I hope the new coach plays to Sexton strength on offense. He's a very fast pace player but not too many on the team are willing to go on the fastbreak with him

Depends on when we are talking and situation. Right now, Lonzo has the bigger impact. He’s a better defender, better passer, and has developed a decent shot.

But he’s also a low-ceiling guy. He will never be an all-star, probably never be a starting point guard on a title team, and will never be a centerpiece. With that said, if you told me he’d play in the NBA for 12-15 years, I wouldn’t disagree.

Sexton is a much higher ceiling player because of his penchant for scoring. It also would not surprise me if he eventually becomes a better playmaker, not because of his passing, but because his scoring ability frees up teammates.

For a team like the Cavs, who are another 2-3 years away from remotely contending and that have no star centerpiece, I’d much rather have Sexton. His potential make sure worth it. For a team that is ready to compete right now but is missing that calming point guard (either as a starter or a bench player), then I’d rather have Lonzo.

Wondering if Collin gets so much free rein now.

Free rein for that? He already had free rein. He’s shooting close to 20 shots a game.

Sexton and TT are the only ones who come to play every night. If I was coach I wouldn't change a thing about Sexton right now.

I'd keep emphasizing the strides in playmaking he has been making, but otherwise, yep.

I meant Bickerstaff might out him on a leash

Maybe,Bickerstaff should tell the rest of the team to hustle down the court instead of standing there like idiots. People always complain about Sexton for trying to shoot over three players but rarely says anything about the other guys not hustling down the court with him.

Part of getting rid of your coach is playing better and responding. Hopefully, some of the disengagement like we saw against Golden State will stop. I do think plodding along is not smart given our guards' talents.

I didnt see the last 5 minutes of first half and none of the second half due to my cable...So,I can't really say about that game but im glad I didnt see it though but not surprised what happened in that game.

Yeah. I am just hoping we see a little more consistency in effort. They played Toronto to the wire and lost, but then got blown out by GS.
