2020 Lineup Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Maybe the plan is for Reyes to play RF and Bradley DH. Bradley could really give the lineup a jolt if he’s able to hit.

Zimmer CF
Jose 3B
Lindor SS
Carlos 1B
Reyes RF
Mercado LF
Bradley DH
Hernandez 2B
Perez C
He dumb thicc

I know many have spoken as if Domingo Santana in the everyday lineup is a foregone conclusion, and while I liked the signing, I wouldn't mind giving Bobby Bradley an opportunity at DH platooning with Domingo.

With Bauers continuing to struggle, we need a backup 1B on the roster, and Bradley fits the bill as we get him near-everyday at-bats as the strong-side member of our DH platoon.

I’m not a Bauers nor a Bradley fan, but I do think they’re gonna do the platoon thing with Domingo like you said. Need a backup at 1B. If Bradley has had a better spring then perhaps they’ll go with him. Neither could really square up a ball last year.

Not that I put much, if any, stock in spring training stats, but Bradley has hit well and limited his swings and misses.

Exactly. It might be meaningless, but it's better than the alternative.

I've been a Bradley non-believer for a long time. I hope he proves me wrong.

Agreed on all counts. I've often been the wet blanket for Bobby Bradley expectations as well.

vs RHP
Lindor
Hernandez
Ramirez
Santana, C
Reyes
Bradley
Luplow
Perez
Mercado

vs LHP
Lindor
Hernandez
Ramirez
Santana, C
Reyes
Luplow
Santana, D
Perez
Mercado

Those are some lineups I can get behind.

Luplow should never see an AB verse RHP.. I'd also bat Luplow ahead of Reyes v LHP
Disagree. He's only 26. No need to lock him into a platoon role without giving him a chance first.

Especially when the alternative is Greg Allen.

And that top 5 isn't written in pen or anything, but it certainly seems like that will be what we see most games.

I would roll with:

Lindor
Santana
Ramirez
Reyes
Luplow
Santana
Hernandez
Mercado
Perez

I prefer Lindor in the leadoff spot. The real question for me is wether Hernandez or Santana bats 2nd. I think the lineup above slots very well against a left hander. Maybe against RH pitching slot Hernandez in the 2 hole and put Carlos at Clean up.

I'm interested as to why?

Is it because you just think that's where Lindor is most comfortable?

Top 4 today is what I would have my top 4 situated like, if I was Tito. 4 straight match-up proof switch-hitters with above average on-base skills, on top of putting Lindor in a better position to have runners on base more frequently.

Hernandez
Santana
Lindor
Ramirez
Flipping Santana and Ramirez would be ideal for me, but this is damn close

Happy to see another poster from IBI.
Welcome to a Reno-free zone..

Doesn't matter all that much to me, similar result. But I like the idea of Santana or Ramirez in the 2 hole because I have a feeling they put their best OBP guy not out of those 4 and Franmil in the 9 hole. Good way of extending your lineup and putting a middle of the order bat, albeit at the top of the order, in position to drive home your #9 hitter.
