Nah, normalcy will return. Just have to put up with some pains in our ass until we get there.

Humanity has recovered from far more lethal and virulent diseases than this thing. Leaving out the Black Death and other super plagues, the Spanish flu of 1918-19 killed about 0.6% of the U.S. population, and it was followed by the Roaring Twenties. Normalcy returned.

With the coronavirus, in addition to progress on masks, tests, medicines, and potentially a vaccine, there's also increasing evidence that this thing does not like heat and humidity. All of that points to things moving closer to normal by June/July.

It sucks...but it will pass.

I'm just hoping for exceptions to be made at some point. I know police aren't supposed to be pulling over expired tags because of the BMV. But I'm going to be forced to be driving a car without the title *just the notarized title to be transferred*, plates from my old car, all with an expired driver's license. And unfortunately, I live in an area where pedophiles and rapists get probation and traffic tickets are for maximum allowable fines.

This is a great time to be physically active. It's also a huge opportunity to better yourself.

Something that I find helpful is considering "present you" and "future you." This is a time for you to start doing things to help "future you."

Pick up a hobby. Learn that thing you've been putting off. Get yourself into better shape. Whatever thing you've always procrastinated on, just go for it now. You have nothing better to do.

Also, for anyone struggling with the boredom where it's becoming a problem, and looking for media to consume (TV/movies/games) shoot me a PM. I may have something for you.

I could be convinced to allow access to my Plex server, but it would be on a case by case basis as I can't afford to host it on anything but my own home internet which limits my ability to provide tons of people access. But if you're struggling mentally and need some nostalgia trips for TV/cartoons whatever, I might be able to help.

Do some home workouts and yoga. I’ve been looking into a home gym for a while.

Exercise equipment may be the most in demand stuff out there right after sanitizer or face masks. Especially home friendly equipment like Total Gyms. Resistance bands which are very versatile are almost nowhere to be found.

Thanks for this positive upbeat post. I live in San Diego and manage a sports shop. It is what I have done for the last ten years. With the stay in place order here, the store may not open for a long time if ever. The thought of reinventing myself in my early 40s is pretty terrifying. I hope as a country we can get through this and don’t suffer a Great Depression like our grandparents. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Covering a take away from this process that isn't really political:

All workplaces need to re-examine their culture around taking sick days and scheduling unnecessary face to face meetings.

Let's start with one of the major tech corporations in San Francisco. I can't say which, but they were one of the first companies who announced an office closure, pushing their employees to work from home. They did everything right... but one week prior they had a face to face meeting with a group from Chicago. The Chicago group were all coughing and sneezing, blaming allergies. Now, two weeks afterwards, the Chicago workers have to tell all the people in that San Francisco meeting that they had Covid.

All this for a meeting that could have been held remotely to begin with.

How much shit do you give people at your workplace for taking a sick day, or even two or three in a row? This culture of "come to work and tough it out" has to change.

The problem is never people who are legitimately sick. The problem is the people who abuse that system just to get free time off.

Was actually looking at squat racks

Important for us to keep testing new drugs and exploring new possibilities that could help, can’t put all our hopes on one drug.

No good news here, clinical random study out of China of a combination HIV drug, lopinavir-ritonavir, also known as Kaletra, showed no statistically significant added benefit versus control.

Saw news of health ministries in other countries (there was a lot of hope around Kaletra, big disappointment) recommending this treatment, hopefully some of the other studies and drugs show promise.

Edits: Did not realize this was Kaletra :(

The GF and I were at the Cavs game on March 7th (the last one before the shut down). One lady from Hudson tested positive and was at that game, along with the other things like the Jazz being there 4 days prior.

We both got sick middle of last week and haven't really gotten better. My stuff is more allergy/sinus type with shortness of breath but the GF has a burning chest, had a low grade fever, etc.

Her doctor just said to stay home (as she tested negative for flu and strep) and to essentially quarantine but no COVID-19 test was happening.

I think we both have it to be honest. We didn't go out that week/weekend except the game.

How is it going? Mrs. Tip and I have had pretty much the same thing. I started sweating last night and feel fine today, so maybe that's it. Mrs. Tip is doing a bit better too. But like you guys, no test, and no test available. But we're still going to self-quarantine for awhile.

Once stuff really started coming out last week and from what people said in this thread, the first thing I did was get a bench and a dumbbell set. There was no way gyms were going to stay open nor did I really want to mess with that.

Don't know what stock they might have right now, but this place is awesome for resistance bands and home workout equipment. I've ordered stuff from them for years. They aren't a widely known company so you might have some luck. Best bands I've ever purchased and they have a bunch of workouts on their site.
