Article here from the Hoover Institution saying that the this might be overblown. Guess time will tell how right he is. He supports social distancing, etc., but not some of the other responses.

I will say that it is really, really inconvenient for a respiratory virus pandemic to occur at both the tail end of the flu season and the start of allergy season.

I am clearing my throat and coughing nonstop. People keep asking if I have coronavirus as if those are the main symptoms. Pretty sure its allergies. Sucks man.

Every person with a mic on Xbox asks me the same question. Like no, I don't have corona, I'm a smoker and I took a bong rip before we started the match.

Exercise equipment may be the most in demand stuff out there right after sanitizer or face masks. Especially home friendly equipment like Total Gyms. Resistance bands which are very versatile are almost nowhere to be found.
Going to buy a treadmill eaque machine today

I guess locking everyone in their house is one way to get the obesity problem in America under control.

Thanks for this positive upbeat post. I live in San Diego and manage a sports shop. It is what I have done for the last ten years. With the stay in place order here, the store may not open for a long time if ever. The thought of reinventing myself in my early 40s is pretty terrifying. I hope as a country we can get through this and don’t suffer a Great Depression like our grandparents. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
I live in Clairemont /pb what's your store?

Where is a plan to increase ICU bed capacity?

These lockdownss are not answer and are totally unsustainable on so many levels.

He really didn't didn't talk about overwhelming the hospital system, though. Even though a lot of people who contract covid will live through it, a lot still need to be hospitalized.

Here's something really good, and a way ordinary people can start fighting back. We all know there is a mask shortage, but apparently, there is good data supporting the idea that homemade masks can still be very effective. Not as good as "real masks", but of significant value nonetheless.

So, there is now a movement to have those people who are capable -- perhaps older people more likely to have sewing machines, etc. -- to start making masks out of things like t-shirt, dish towels, and pillowcases. Hospitals really need them. Here are some links to patterns and instructions - send it to anyone you know who can help:

I know that the Cleveland Clinic is short masks for their nursing staff, so my mother in law is making a ton of these and sending them up to my stepdaughter who is a nurse there. So find some grannies, drop off the supplies, and make those old biddies earn their keep!

That's true. The issue is whether that addressing that requires a mass shutting down of the economy.

Beds and, in particular, medical equipment that goes with those beds, are extremely scarce. Ventilators in particular are in massive shortage and no relief is really in sight.

Toronto has been a weird case. I can see the cases start building up, but our health system has been really bad with even testing, telling most people who have symptoms to self isolate.

I live alone, luckily have a balcony but I'm in a condo with a ton of people, so part of me doesn't want to leave the house unless I need to.

Oddly enough, I've been more social the last few days and trying to connect with my family over facetime, ect more than ever before. It's definitely making me appreciate the people in my life more. I haven't done much self betterment, outside of working on my diet and doing my best to just avoid a lot of fats and sugars (save the frozen pizza in my fridge and my morning tea). I'm lucky my job can be done from home, and I'm expecting to do so for the next month at the least. I am slightly hopeful that even though a vaccine is at least a year away, there will be meds to either reduce symptoms or kill the virus in people suffering. I'm hoping there is some validity to Chloroquine. That would be amazing, since the side effects are minimal for people dealing with malaria. Though I also think Trump should have waited to announce that because the COVID testing was a group of like 30 or 60 people and the FDA hasn't actually approved it for COVID yet. Though it was FDA approved for malaria and I want to say lupus...

I'm still extremely worried about the disease, more for my grandparents and parents, the elderly ect. Though I also don't want to get it, haha.

I hope everyone is doing their best right now. Can't wait to start talking basketball again!
