That's true. The issue is whether that addressing that requires a mass shutting down of the economy.
I know. And he used mortality rates to say that maybe we don't have to shutdown as much. And if all we had to worry about was mortality, that I think his point would be more valid.

But it's mortality and hospitalization rates together that are really the driving force. So I think analysis isn't complete enough to fully support his point.

RE: Home exercise, home gaming, social interaction

Virtual reality can let you do all 3 of those at the same time. You move your body while you play the games and some of the games you play with other people and can talk to them while you're playing. Some of them you can play with friends and family members who you may not be able physically go see if they have VR too.

Oculus quest is cheapest/easiest to use way to effectively do this.

I can't view the attachments in full size, but I've got 18 TBs of files on my server.

Never bothered to put mine in list view before. But 213 complete TV series, 203 complete cartoon series, and only about 500 movies because I was running out of space for a while.
66TB of storage, 20 used for parity, so 46 real TB.

19 free, 27 in use. I've been encoding my entire library into h.265 for almost a year now. Getting close to the end. The space savings are incredible.

A lot of that space is hosting every video game ever made, for all systems up through XBOX, PS2, WiiU.

Your list is long enough that when scrolling down the text disappeared and I actually tried to click on the N64 folder . . . It didn't open.

That list isn't even complete. There are some systems I haven't gotten around to sorting yet. They're sitting in the "old" folder waiting for me to go through the hassle of setting them up for HyperSpin.

Military is at a hospital in Illinois at which a friend of ours works; they’re in hazmat suits.

Student loan payments can now be suspended 60 days, no interest, no payments

Where is a plan to increase ICU bed capacity?

These lockdownss are not answer and are totally unsustainable on so many levels.

If they can’t increase bed capacity they need to effectuate an action that can increase bed overturn. Maybe that’s too obvious a comment but at least something that can suppress or preserve until the vaccine research becomes more developed?

I dunno

Why hasn't the national guard been deployed for surge capacity beds? We can move non-critical to the surge hospital. This is why you need a pandemic unit, regardless of the cost to have those people. If you don't ever need them, rejoice! But when you do, you want to have a plan that you execute. Right now, we have no plan.

Wife still doesnt have results from her test. It ruled out strands of influenza. She either has Covid-19 or some other type of infection.

The only real way to "increase beds" would be either to have the military make some makeshift hospitals or commandeer pediatric ICUs. And those are only a drop in the bucket.

The best solution is social distancing to "flatten the curve". If we don't follow it and our hospitals get overwhelmed, then we might start to look like Italy.

One advantage of a decentralized private health industry is that we will try a LOT of different ideas. Some won't work or might be counterproductive. But it's likely that there will be some positive results, and no people in the world are better at improvising than we are. We've got lots of Medical MacGyvers out there -- somebody will figure this out.

BTW the research doc featured in the Netflix series "Pandemic" (must-see TV) was on TV last night.
