The 2020 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If you rewatch game 1, there's a part where they cut to a group of fans in the upper deck RF standing area, leaning over the railing and banging on the aluminum siding.

That was me, my wife, and six other friends I was able to bring to the game with me because the Indians were dumb and allowed season ticket holders to buy up to 8 tickets for each game.
Im glad you got to enjoy that moment with your friends and weren't one of the dickheads that sold the tickets.

I’m currently watching Game 3 of the 2016 World Series. I remember not being able to breathe while at the Clevelander downtown for it. I still don’t understand why we didn’t let Tomlin try and finish the 5th. Had a runner on second with 2 outs.

Coco coming in the clutch was fucking amazing. That was a hell of a game.
Tomlin was effective in that postseason because we limited his exposure to opposing lineups. Santana had just batted in the top half and was playing LF that day, so making that double switch to bring in Davis and Miller was a no-brainer. There was a lefty at the plate followed by the top and there was no way Tomlin was going to face the top of the order again.

I don't think selling your tickets makes you a dickhead.

There was simply too much money to be made. I was a first-year teacher and was able to pay off a good chunk of my student loans, buy a 40 game package behind the 3B dugout for 2017 and still had some money left over.

And that was with me still going to a game each series with my dad.

I sold a pair of tickets for the first playoff game in 1995. I'd been to a ton of games, but with a wife and baby on the way, I couldn't justify not taking $1000 for the pair. It basically financed all the other playoff tickets I had gotten as a season ticket holder.

The other thing is that I sold them to another Tribe fan. So I got to go to a bunch of playoff games, and another fan (partner at my firm) who wanted to take his son got to go as well.

I sold 3 tickets for game 6 and 6 tickets for game 7.

Yes, the game 7 tickets went to Cubs fans. They actually bought the tickets at 2k a piece trying to flip them for even more profit, and ended up getting stuck with them when prices came back down.

You can't exactly choose who the tickets go to on Stubhub.

I made 16k in profit and paid off a huge chunk of student loan debt.

I went to game 6 with a buddy, and game 7 with my dad.

Let me clarify my statement, not everyone was a dickhead. If you guys put it to good use; you were absolutely right in selling. It's the people who bought tickets solely to flip them to have money for dumb stuff i.e. those professional scalpers and ticket flippers.

Besides you being in a community with me, what makes me different from someone who bought tickets and sold them? Is it just because I put it towards student loans rather than into my savings account? Is it the fact that I still attended every game? Is it that I used 20 out of the 29 tickets I purchased?

I think it's easy to create the "professional scalpers and ticket flippers" in your mind, but for something like the World Series, where tickets were gobbled up by the season ticket holders, and never really made it out to the public to be snatched up for the secondary market, I'm not sure those boogeymen were the problem.

I definitely agree that the secondary market has become an enormous problem for a lot of events, specifically concerts.

Report: MLBPA wants full year of service time if season is canceled

With Major League Baseball's season perpetually in limbo due to the coronavirus shutdown, the league and the players' association face myriad logistical issues to iron out before play resumes.

One is how service time will be calculated if there's a shortened or canceled campaign.

The players' union reportedly wants its members to accrue a full year of service time even if no games are played, according to Ronald Blum of The Associated Press.

This would kill the trade value of Lindor and take a year off the Indians playoff window.

No way in hell the owners go for this. I also dont think the full season gets cancelled. I could see half a season, but not a full season

Very detailed talk on 92.3 on this a few days ago, also tying into the Dolan sale possibility.

Shortened season may not count as a "full year of service" for purposes of labor agreements.

The big news is that apparently China is starting its pro basketball leagues up again for Apr 15th, per 92.3 right now.

Stateside it looks like the Big3 has been kicking around for a few days the possibility of an April quarantined tournament.

I don't think the full season gets canceled either.

I think an 81 game season starting in July makes a ton of sense.

Anyone know when the Indians have to set like there 25 man roster or will it be essentially when the season starts? I am guessing when the season starts/within a certain amount of days when they announce the season to start

Tribe would have to set their 26 man roster (or larger if adjusted by more rule changes with the restart) by the day of the opening game.
There have been occasions in the past when a team (even the Tribe) would leave spring training with a larger than normal roster to play an exhibition game or 2 & a late injury would force a switch on who was on the active roster for opening day.
